New loft layout
I'm starting again with my loft layout and have come up with the following plan. Layout is modern era. http://www.slotforum.com/forums/uploads/1340376755/gallery_1222_855_1857.jpg I know the station is a bit short but half of the passenger train will be under the crossed out bit which is going to be...

Re: Multimaus
I have just purchased the MultiMaus Pro Central which comes with the Rocomotion software. Rocomotion is a cut down version of RR&Co. Having just bought it I haven't got much to tell. I'm probably going to get the Roco modules (I say probably because I think theres some restriction in Rocomotion ...

Small 7x5 OO layout design
I've been asked by a friend to come up with a plan for his spare room. He has lots of OO gauge locos and stock and wants somewhere to run them. It will be a DC steam/diesel era layout. I've come up with this so far. I know the gradient might be a bit steep but considering the running length of the t...

Re: What controller?
Silver - Although the NCE products have radio, it is not cleared for use in the UK. Not sure why - I guess in case it interferes with the police or ambulance bands. The box that you have linked to is a power booster not the powerbox. The powerbox is product number CS02. This has the RS232 port for t...

Re: What controller?
I've only had experience with the Powercab and it really is very easy to get to grips with. I haven't really scraped the surface of what it can do but its very helpful when you need to check CV values and makes changes. I've now decided that I want an element of automation on my layout and want to u...

Re: Your opininons please!! 12x6 feet TMD plan!
Do you have an idea of what each line will be used for? Not too sure I can provide adequate critique on the layout design but one thing I did when designing my TMD was have an idea of what each line was for - storage, shed, fuel, wash etc. I wouldn't worry about size being an issue for a first timer...

Re: Bachmann tamper is out
Just as a quick heads up - whilst flicking through ebay these tampers pop up in the HO section in those black and gold Spectrum boxes. Can be cheaper and I think they are pretty much the same.

Re: bachmann class 08 decoder installation
I put a normal Bachman decoder in my DCC ready 08.
If I remember I put it more or less where its shown above - not sure but I think in front of the socket in that little oblong hole. If I remember I'll take a pic tomorrow. Its a bit tight but works fine.

Re: Oxford model shop
Howes used to be in the centre but as mentioned is now in Kidlington. I grew up close by in Witney and would spend hours in the old shop however, at the time I would mostly walk past the trains to the RC cars at the back.

Re: Trans -Siberian Express
I would just LOVE to see Russia,. I would too. I'd love to spend a couple of months travelling by rail over europe and asia. Anyone know how long it would take to get to Kiev by rail? I ask because for a few years I've wanted to go to Chernobyl. I know it sounds odd but I really want to see the cit...

Re: DCC layout and PC control.
I'm thinking of using a PC to control some automation on my layout. Its a toss up between PC control or Bitswitch control My layout has 4 mainlines and I would like to automate the outer 2 lines. There are 2 stations and one off scene area where the trains would stop. I would like to run 3 trains al...

Platform and trackside trunking questions
While I'm laying the track for my main station I want to build the platforms and fit some of the trunking you see at the side of the track. Essentially what I'd like to do is get some experience of laying trackside components before ballasting. I know you can get electrical boxes and dummy point mot...
