Re: 47806 Goes Trainspotting

Heavy fog this morning:

Image

Very frustrating, three freights passed me and through a combination of no visibility and the wrong settings I didn't get much of a shot of any of them.

For once, the weather beat me.

Re: 47806 Goes Trainspotting

One photo from this morning. The light was poor but rail traffic was heavy (lots of panning practice). This shot does work out and ties as my shortest ever train in Canada - only two coaches. Surely a DMU would have been more efficient?

Re: 47806's Two Layouts (Crick Road and the IC&L)

Crick Road Update: Quick photo of 57008 http://images.fotopic.net/1ywxn4.jpg IC&L Update: I added the poly filla for the road, then primed and painted over the plaster. There is a model railway exhibit in a few weeks and I am hoping to buy a building to serve as a factory. Since this is the lar...

Re: 47806's Two Layouts (Crick Road and the IC&L)

Hello Thomas, Phew!!! That will have been a big sigh of relief. Glad to see that you are now able to continue the Lay-out build which means we get to see more of your progress. Should we not correspond between now and Christmas, have a Good One, with "many" Railway related presents, even ...

Re: 47806's Two Layouts (Crick Road and the IC&L)

Crick Road Update: Nothing to Report. IC&L Update: The painting of the board is finished (for now). I have added the road elevation up to the level crossing on both sides using card and then two layers of plaster bandage. I also bought a boxcar in Algoma Central livery (not easy to find at all),...

Re: 47806 Goes Trainspotting

A beautiful morning for photos, cool but crisp and clear. I think I even saw a coyote, but it ran away before a photo. CN 5710 & 5296 & 5609, this train slowly pulled out of a siding and a crew member leaned out of the window and photted me while I photted the train! :) http://images.fotopic...

Re: 47806's Two Layouts (Crick Road and the IC&L)

Crick Road Update: Nothing to report. IC&L Update: My layout left Cambridge on 20 August and arrived at my house in Canada on Friday afternoon! The board was a little bashed from the voyage (easily remedied with a bit of glue and a nail or two) but I was glad to get it back. I was also relieved...

Re: 47806's Two Layouts (Crick Road and the IC&L)

I was thinking of making the BBC container paper kit at some point, maybe a project for the winter.

Re: 47806 Goes Trainspotting

A long trip in search of autumnal colour today. Not terribly successful on the colour front but I did find a wonderful location for railway photos. The small town of Port Hope is bisected by two viaducts, one carrying CN and VIA Rail, the other carries CP. Here are two of the photos: http://images.f...

Re: Eastern's Photos -

I don't think I have ever seen photos from Chile before! I like the abandoned/preserved locos - excellent weathering inspiration.

Re: 47806's Two Layouts (Crick Road and the IC&L)

Crick Road Update: Here is another view of the unloading facility, woefully overexposed. It fills a corner of the layout and isn't very detailed, but it does create a lot of operating interest. http://images.fotopic.net/1youe3.jpg IC&L Update: The container should have arrived in Canada earlier...

Re: 47806 Goes Trainspotting

A good afternoon for trains - three commuter, two inter-city and three freights in a few hours. http://images.fotopic.net/1yo1ug.jpg VIA 901 with Train 64 and some autumnal colour. http://images.fotopic.net/1yo1ud.jpg CN 2649, 5700 & 2431 on a very long eastbound freight.
