Re: 47806 Goes Trainspotting

I have just joined the Toronto Railway Historical Association to help them restore the former John Street Roundhouse in downtown Toronto. Yesterday was my first day volunteering and I spent most of my time cleaning out a caboose. I have started a collection on my website of photo of the work: http:/...

Agreed! I have been waiting for the warmest days to go out.

Re: 47806 Goes Trainspotting

Whitby's snow load is finally starting to catch up with the UK! Still mucking about with camera settings but it seems that I am starting to get the hang of it. I have started shooting in raw and the results are much better. Colours are clearer and I can edit more without damaging the image. Here is ...

Re: 47806's Two Layouts (Crick Road and the IC&L)

Crick Road Update: Nothing to report. IC&L Update: Little changes in the scenics but I have started building the factory. Because it is such a large part of the model railway, progress will be slow. http://images.fotopic.net/11dngr.jpg Playing around with the settings on the camera for better d...

Re: 47806 Goes Trainspotting

While the Toronto area is relatively devoid of snow, the cold is here and standing outside for several hours does not appeal. However, I treated myself to an amazing deal in the January sales and have now upgraded my Canon Powershot A530 to a Canon EOS Revel XSi (450D). Here is the first railway sho...

Re: 47806's Two Layouts (Crick Road and the IC&L)

As I look out of my window, I can see about 1cm of snow on the ground. The wind chill yesterday was -25 Celsius though! Expecting more snow tonight.

Re: 47806's Two Layouts (Crick Road and the IC&L)

Crick Road Update: Nothing to Report. IC&L: I am rather busy right now but I managed to add a few details to the layout. To save money, I built them using card and painted them but the effect is quite good. I added a re-railer to my Alco RS-3, as well as a track bumper and derail to the factory...

Re: 47806's Two Layouts (Crick Road and the IC&L)

Crick Road Update: Nothing to report, mice have not been back. IC&L Update: The IC&L has had more progress since the last photo. I have realigned the foundations for the factory (much more logical now). I have installed the parking lot and painted/weathered the road. I think that the parkin...

Re: 47806's Two Layouts (Crick Road and the IC&L)

Thanks! Still no snow here really, but cold and a good chance of freezing rain at Christmas. Crick Road Update: Passengers faced hours of delays in the Daventry area yesterday as Network Rail and the BTP closed the line after a small rodent was found to have jumped the fence and walked along the lin...

That pocket wagon would look really good with my Bachmann 57! I might consider getting one.

Re: Eastern's Photos -

Speeders are used on the York-Durham Heritage Railway north of Toronto. http://www.ydhr.on.ca When I volunteered on their track crew a few years ago, speeders were used to carry equipment to the locations. The most fun was the little "wagons" that they pull because I was allowed to push on...
