Re: Hornby 2019 Range Speculation Thread

OK that was the sensible post!! But I don't know if anyone has noticed but a recent TV ad may have blown Hornby's cover https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zwFZWmKlQVk So based on that the new release will be a battery powered A4 in LNER blue livery with fully yellow ends (Tender sold separately), this ...

Re: A tender for Smokey Joe

I have quite a few photographs of these "tenders", they were quite common on the Caledonian Pugs and also their North British Y9 counterparts, here is one I have in my collection

Re: Hornby 2019 Range Speculation Thread

As usual this thread has been running on the other place for a few days with much froth to the point of silliness. My purely selfish speculation is a Caledonian 0-4-4 "439" tank, based on the hint that the Hornby guys ran the laser over something else while they were doing Maude, the sales...

Hope they do some UK lines, the West Highland from Glasgow to Mallaig would be a good one.

Re: How to Dispose of Used Modelling Blades?

I keep one of the blade dispenser boxes empty and fill it with used blades as I take a fresh blade from the new box, when the spare box is full the fresh box will be empty and so it goes on.

Re: Glassgow to Strandossan - 00 DCC

Agree with Timbersurf - I have used a load of those on the layout and they do fail now and again, I have a small stock of spares and do a quick strip out and replacement while announcing that trains will be delayed due to a points failure at Mavisbank or where ever! :)

Re: Gateside and Northbridge (Incorporating the Allanshaw Inglenook)

I missed the ‘outside’ shots last week, as others have said the natural light brings out the best of it. Hi Dave - your comment had me confused until I re-read what Josh said in his post "To see it out in natural daylight" (which I totally missed) - actually the layout has not yet been ou...

Re: Questions about the Faller road system etc.

Does anyone remember another system that went around in the 1970s (I think) the cars were propelled by a spring set tin a groove and the selling point was that you could convert any die cast car to run on the track by sticking a pin on the underside that engaged with the spring, think it could have ...

Clever moderation by Bufferstop, don't lock a contentious thread, just steer the subject as far away from the OP as possible without anyone noticing :D

Re: Gateside and Northbridge (Incorporating the Allanshaw Inglenook)

Thanks John - I call it the " plank" to try and describe the three modular sections, the others being "the cradle" (incorporating the hidden siding(s)) and "the bridge". The plank and bridge will continue to be interchangeable into the main layout.

Re: Gateside and Northbridge (Incorporating the Allanshaw Inglenook)

Thanks Josh, starting to have to look at a lot of things that previously would not have been a concern with a fully static layout, like protecting delicate parts during handling, I have already had to make some running repairs when moving the plank from the main layout onto the cradle, getting it th...

Re: Gateside and Northbridge (Incorporating the Allanshaw Inglenook)

Made a start tonight on the cradle for Allenshaw to become a standalone. This is proving to be an inexpensive project as the wood was left over from a home improvement When finished it will be an 8ft x 15" exhibitable layout. https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4848/32486640958_ba0ba3a4f0_c.jpg [/ur...
