Re: Galgorm Hall 00 Gauge Loft Layout

Fantastic rendition of the stonework Paul, reminds me of the standard that Andrew (Grotland) achieved on his layout based on Leith.

Re: Millsend Layout - OO Gauge Sixties Midland

I come back after a few days away from the keyboard and Jim has managed to create another masterpiece. The usual high standard of construction and finishing there sir. Look forward to seeing it fettled and in position.

Re: Gateside and Northbridge

Well that is the eye operation over with :D It takes a few weeks for the eye to heal fully so I don't know how good it will be once the healing procedure is complete, it is still a bit fuzzy but already better than before. The operation is more terrifying on the lead up than the actual procedure its...

Re: Gateside and Northbridge

Thanks guys, definitely not looking forward to it as it is done under a local so you are aware of what is going on, however once it is done I should have improved vision so the small modelling tasks will be easier.

Re: Loft Layout Plans - Input appreciated

Hi Alex - Looks a fine plan, the only change I would make would be to move the two crossovers out of the station area to the straight section on the right of the layout, that would give better platform length and allow platform selection clear of the station area, you could also then extend the top ...

Re: Millsend Layout - OO Gauge Sixties Midland

Looks good Jim, I really should look at these laser cut windows for any further buildings as I don't think I could be bothered making any more from scratch/

Re: Gateside and Northbridge

Thanks Jim, unfortunately when testing the circuit after putting in a third LED in the Water Tank Road I forgot the resistor and blew all three LEDs  So I will need to re-install, no biggy as they were not embedded in the building. Will be limited in what I can do over the next couple of weeks...

Re: Not enough horses (or women)?

Great find Kentishman, this site http://www.crht1837.org/history/horsesstables would suggest that it is not Euston, but not far away at Camden Goods Depot, looks to have been an extensive system of tunnels - hence the nickname "The Camden Catacombs"

Re: Labeling Idea. (Important!)

A reasonable suggestion, but I would doubt that the manufacturing companies would agree on a common configuration. Is it really necessary - again I doubt that there is a great need for this, every new release is reviewed and dissected to death in the magazines and forums, anyone wanting info does no...

Re: Goods shed operation

Quite a few depots would have had a winch installed at the bufferstops so that wagons could be moved without a loco being present, and don't forget that in the age of steam, there would always be at least a couple of Clydesdale or Shire horses around the depot that could pull the wagons around.

Re: Millsend Layout - OO Gauge Sixties Midland

HI Jim - Glad the task of cutting the inspection pits is done for me, if you excuse the pun - that job is the pits :D . Best of luck with this latest project. Just now the site reminds me of those photos from 1968, with deserted loco depots waiting for the track to be ripped up.
