Re: On The Cadge - Kadee No.20

Thanks glencairn, I'm trying to find a way around without having to buy anything. This idea works, but has extended the Kadee knuckle further out than I wanted. I try to get so buffers almost touch when pushing. Easy to try again. I've drilled a 1.4 mm hole in the side of a NEM pocket. I wanted to s...

On The Cadge - Kadee No.20

No harm in asking. Has anybody got a spare No.20 extra long NEM Kadee coupler that they can part with ? I've added a decoder to my Hatton's Andrew Barclay, but it's for use on a Kadee fitted layout. The NEM pockets are mounted well back and a No.18 is FAR too short. The shunting layout only needs lo...

Re: Dad-1 - Workbench - West Bay Wagon Works

Derek's 'Bullion' van being tested on St Oval my small garage located oval. https://youtu.be/gRhXJIpwbkM I was surprised the Ratio 5 plank wagons took the strain without derailing, they are VERY light. Most of this stock is kit built, with a few legacy RTR included. Even the first wagon a Ratio coke...

Re: Carriages derailing

That sounds like the Back-to-Back setting is too narrow. Being second-hand we have no idea of just how old they may be. The current setting for a measurement between the inner faces on an pair of wheels should be 14.5 mm. You should be able to tease the wheels outwards by holding one still and with ...

Re: I needed a longer headshunt

Why did you make it short ?
I would have thought you could get another 100 mm before it fouls your
display shelves. Perhaps even hooking onto the shelf edge for stability ?
That would be enough space for 'Katie'.

Trouble stirrer !!

Re: Dad-1 - Workbench - West Bay Wagon Works

A colleague of mine knows all about me complaining that I have to stop wagon building because I can't get the couplings. He has a kit that he wants making up, so it's been posted to me, complete with a pair of couplings - smart move !! A Parkside 'Beetle' PC64. I've also run out of auto wheel balanc...

Re: Minimum Radius

Hi peterjg, The simple answer is try it, there is a good chance it will de-rail, but there are some surprising exceptions. A warning note here, just because MY model will go around 1st radius doesn't mean yours will. The second Radius claim is simply to make the Manufacturers life easier. Set one ba...

Re: HS II - The Kadee Experiments

I've added a video here of HS II being used for a full shunting puzzle. My last posting regarding the Heljan 1361 is in the 'Green Frog Brewery' thread, where there is a short clip of this loco showing it's current slow running properties. That was also done on HS II, but the main reason was to expl...

Re: Green Frog Brewery - A Inglenook Shunting Layout

Thanks Chops, Rather slow in getting back to this, well it's all but finished anyway. What I have done is improve the Heljan 1361's running beyond recognition. It's really not possible to watch the motion on both sides when working, view obscured, small black parts in a black hole. Something was cat...

Bufferstop, Are you wanting to take on the role of a butcher in Coronation Street. I said, I'll say it again !! Sorry I'm in that sort of silly mood. Welcome peterjg, we like a bit of a laugh at times. We take our railway modelling seriously, but not THAT serious. When you ask a question remember th...
