Re: Screaming ringfeild???

A tiny drop of light oil (not 3 in 1 or WD40) on the bearing surfaces is all that it needs to make it run quietly again. Using a pointed match place a drop of light oil on the armature shaft between the brushes and also a wee drop of oil behind the brass gear on the opposite side of the motor. Rotat...

Re: Hornby 31 chassis.

According to the Hornby forum and Hornby it's down to impurities in the Mazak metal used for the casting, causing cystalisation in the metal leading to the metal degrading and eventually fracutres and powdering of the metal. If you are after a 31 leave the early ones in the shop. I have one of the ...

Yes, the track is correct for your APT set.
The Austrian made track that Hornby used was either introduced either in 1972 or 1976.

Re: Dynamis-not working HELP! PLEASE!!!

When we turn on the command centre there is only a flashing amber/yellow light no green light flashing. The batteries in the handset were new ones. So we're thinking that something has blown somewhere, as suggested by previous post. Bev Two things to try that might work. 1. Remove the receiver from...

Re: Dynamis-not working HELP! PLEASE!!!

My son connected up his Dynamis after a winter break. One of his engines was on the track and I heard the engine noise, he moved the command centre which was sitting on his track, one of the wires came out at the back and possibly fell on the track. We connected it back up and turned it on, one of ...

Re: Decoder install

I have a Bachmann 3 function decoder installed in a Hornby pug, I can program the decoder fine either on the main or on the programming track. The motor twitches while doing the programming which almost all of my other locos do as well. However when I come to tell the loco to move nothing happens. ...

Re: Restoring Syncrosmoke unit

Hi I've bought a second hand R150 B12 with syncrosmoke and I could use some help figuring it out. I've tried to find detailed images as to how exactly it all goes together. I know it all seems pretty straight forward, but mine isn't right. The element, which has a resistance of 33 ohm so its ok, si...

Re: Class 91 trainset, the wrong way round!

If I'm not mistaken, the idea behind introduction of the Dvt's was to operate the long distance trains in a semi-fixed formation and also to cut down on the number of loco changes required at the main termini's as well as the number of staff required to uncouple/couple the locomotives on arrival. ht...

According to the Bachmann rep, the Class 105 will be ready for sale later this year.
I've seen the BR Blue version and tell you what, you won't be disapointed.

Re: DCC SHORT

Apart from the mains fuse in the plug, there's usually a secondary fuse between the power lead and the power supply in most appliances. Your Prodigy shouldn't be any different. My guess that it's this fuse that's blown and not a major component. If it's under guarantee? send it back to Gaugemaster. ...

Aye, maybe they did escape to N.I. and I was lucky enough to own them.

No they haven't.
The original Bachmann Class 45 was fitted with an improved version of the Mainline motor that still had traction tyres fitted. I had two of them.

Would this be the black controller you get with a Hornby train set ? If it is, there's not enough output in those controllers to skin a cat. What you need is a decent controller with a minimum power output of 1amp. K9-70[/quote] Hi I was looking for a decent controller online, A decent controller w...

Re: APT & Short Circuit

Like many others, I've decided to bring my APT into the DCC world, but before i put the chip in, experience has taught me to get the DC running spot on first. I have the original motor and a 5 pole replacement. Both have problems. They will run reasonably well until put into the metal chassis, when...
