Re: HS2 phase two
I really dont see what the Chinese are building in the far east has to do with our economy. Building HS2 wont make one iota difference to the cost of doing anything in this country so how it will enable us to compete with the Chinese I dont follow. For sure we need to start building things to boot ...

Hi all! I said I would update in a couple of days earlier in the thread. Ooops  such is life! There will be a more full update later, but for now I will leave you with a video and some pictures, previewing progress on the station. Unfortunately photos are quite cruel. http://i224.photobucket.co...

Re: bachmann 08
Isn't this an amusing thread for a cold winters evening! I'd rather pay full whack for a loco, have it in new condition undamaged, than buy a damaged loco on the premise that I might damage it one day and have to repair so why not start out with a damaged one. The build quality of Bachmann stuff is ...

Re: bachmann 08
By rights, if it was broken, and he was a reputable shop, he should have sent it back to Bachmann rather than try to sell it to the public. As far as I am concerned if it is broken then it his issue with Bachmann, by agreeng to buy it, it has become your issue! For the record, I work at my local mod...

Re: HS2 phase two
Projects like HS2 are needed, regardless of other details like which route it follows. Those who complain that this is just a vanity project for MPs fail to realise that in the far east, they are building new high speed rail lines/airports/cities/roads at an astronomical rate. If we ever want to get...

Re: Dapol HST - Any good?
I have a GC HST by Dapol. It is a brilliant runner, really quiet and smooth. Much better than the farish one, which looks toy like in comparison to it.
It isn't cheap though!

Hi Mark, thanks!
The Signal Gantries, the fancy one is from CR Signals, and the normal ones are from Eckon-Berko, bought in a sale a couple of years ago.
Has to be said the CR Signals one is a masterpiece!

Re: Chinley, Modern Image N Gauge
Hi Mat, I like the plan & your track looks to be laid well. Its good to see you've gone for an open frame. It'll give you much more scope & variety in scenic design. I look forward to see how your layout progresses. Thanks! I'm looking forward to what the open frame method will allow. Nice ...

Chinley, Modern Image N Gauge
Hello all! Well, it is time to start again! As previously discussed in my old layout thread (link at bottom of post) Ollerton met its fate at the hand of track issues at board joints. So, for my new layout, a few things had to be met. 1. Continuous run. I like to watch trains go by. 2. All on the sa...

Re: Shawbury Foregate (BR 1987-92ish inspired by Shrewsbury)
Cracking layout there Mark! The glut of bachfar 101s makes me want to have more than my solitary example. There is something about them that scream late eighties/early nineties BR.
Lovely SB. You seem to have captured that sort of brutal elegance that tall boxes like Shrewsbury have.

That is a cracking little layout. Nicely modelled station and the telegraph poles are a nice touch.

Re: Ollerton 'N' 5'2"x3' Split Board
Well, I must report the untimely demise of Ollerton. It was left unused for 6 months due to a problem that claims alot of layouts, track faults, my ones being at the board joints. The layout was dismantled without ceremony on Boxing Day. There is a replacement, which I will post about at a future da...

Re: Kent coast in N. BR(S) 3rd rail
Great Layout!
I would say that Staff halts are not uncommon, but would not be as substantial as those hornby platforms pictured. Think Hoo Junction staff halt.
