Re: RAILEX 2015 23rd & 24th May

RAILEX is this weekend

For those parking in the stadium car park there are signs saying parking can be for a maximum 2 or 3 hours. Don't worry the number plate cameras will be switched off and you can stay at Railex as long as you wish.

Re: RAILEX 2015 23rd & 24th May

Layout numbers to trade numbers can be misleading as most of the layouts that appear at Railex tend to be quite large while traders tend to be specialist and may only be a six foot table. Our speadsheet does calculate the amount each takes normally the space of trade against layouts is around half a...

Re: GWR colours help?

http://i59.tinypic.com/dxzsk5.jpg GWR structure colours there were three stone colours plus chocolate with white window frames, the sample above shows the actual paint samples. Pheonix colours are the best, avoid the Railmatch colours as these are too washed out. or mix your own Humbrol No. 62 Leat...

Re: GWR 97XX condensing tank

The K kit has a vent directly out of the top of the boiler it should connect to two pipes running from the tank tops. I have got one Samhongsa 97XX although two others have passed through my hands either to detail or exchange for a pre painted one to one in brass. normally they go for around £120, I...

Re: GWR 97XX condensing tank

Samhongsa a Korean company made a RTR brass 97XX in the 1980s they were quite accurate, in fact the best 97XX still to date.

There are a few detail differences depending on the period top feed and bunker steps.

Re: Model show price / distance

£8 for admission is not expensive when you compare it to other types of entertainment, how much will a cup of coffee and a sandwich cost in a high street café? I have been to St Albans show for many years and although he venue is not the best the show always has something to entertain, I normally ta...

Re: Scratchbuilding of assorted structures

The paper glazing bars was self adhesive paper just peel off the back and stick on, although I have also done it with normal paper that's laid on the glazing material and MEK then draws the paper into the glazing to secure it. My preferred method now is to use .5mm or .2mm Perspex for the frames tha...

Re: Scratchbuilding of assorted structures

I used to build structures using Slaters embossed plasticard, but the laser cut buildings I can design and build are much better, take a fraction of the time, and if you make a mistake or want to improve the design it is very easy to do. Our club brought the laser cutter and its use for club project...

Our model railway club invested in the laser cutter and the software we use is a free download called ProdgeCAD...

Re: Scratchbuilding of assorted structures

http://i62.tinypic.com/3324f0g.jpg http://i61.tinypic.com/2qsykqu.jpg I have access to a laser cutter so now draw everything up on CAD and let the machine do the hard work, it does mean you can make a kit and make as many as you like. Above is one of the waiting rooms I have built for a model of Ay...
