Advice on point operation??

Hi everyone, Im planning to build a new layout which i will be taking to shows, can someone tell me how i can operate points without using point motors or "great hand from the sky". Id like it to be simple and robust please.

Re: Small Line Motive Power

Re: Small Line Motive Power

There are the BR shunters as you mentioned, how about the Hornby Sentinal, that comes in a few different liverys and would be good for a repaint if you wanted to. There is always the Hornby pug for steam but i think they are an older model now. I have an 0-6-0 Pannier tank and it runs very well ind...

Re: Small Line Motive Power

Hi Jack, A Pannier tank of some kind or a Jinty then you start to struggle as many preserved lines have ex industrial locos which are in extremely short supply in RTR format. The only option for an industrial 0-4-0ST for example is a kit and many of them seem to be etched kits which are not a possi...

Re: Does this sound ok for a sneario/era

For authenticity you so need to at least suggest a line of old 37s and 47s each one owned by a 'me and my dog' preservation society, that are never going to get restored. Perhaps some desperate posters: 'Let's get The Barker - 37123 - out for a run'. Something else your location needs is a road acc...

Re: Does this sound ok for a sneario/era

Although I used to work with a few people who thought 1990/2000 was a very long time ago it would be a very short history for a railway preservation group unless funded by a group of old rock superstars. I would say that fs123's descriptions are spot on. You would need to be keen on modeling a dump...
