Re: I must stop spending!

Not exactly spending but more pre ordering. Just pre ordered the R3512 Hornby Wainwright H class Early BR Train Pack. Should be ready at the end of the year. Cant wait

Re: What can I build on a 6ft board

Thank you chris, I think I will stick with the branch line design, I plan to have all the sidings running the same way, as i'll be running dc so the power supply will come from the entrance track. First, a reminder of rule 1: it's your railway and you have it how YOU want it. You might find reversi...

Re: What can I build on a 6ft board

well I only have a br blue class 105 dmu, a Hornby pug and a sentinel shunter in red, no rolling stock as of yet. Now that has some odd possibilities The 105 pair would work on the layouts I've drawn, but if we go to stuart's "part hidden" station idea, then a bay platform would be possib...

Re: What can I build on a 6ft board

That's fair enough, so with the size of the loop, what size train will I be able to run. My sketches allowed for two 57' (9 inch) coaches plus a small 0-6-0 (giving a 23" fiddle yard with definitely no room for a pointwork "ladder") Push-pull services might be likely. A 15xx plus aut...

Re: What can I build on a 6ft board

It'll probably fit a single Mk1 but would it look realistic? That sort of layout is based on a small branchline/light railway practice and for the majority of such lines you wouldn't normally see a Mk1. You may get "cascaded" stock such as the old pre nationalization 57 footers or suburba...

Re: What can I build on a 6ft board

Jack, Turn the question on its head... Rather than what can you build in 6ft, ask yourself what you want to build, a station, goods yard, coal merchant etc, and then look how you can squeeze it into the available space. The world of building micro layouts can be very rewarding, and six feet can be ...

so wouldn't a single br mk1 fit in the loop?

Re: What can I build on a 6ft board

Slightly less, Jack, by putting the station at an angle to the board it give you a little more space, just like using the Y points... I know it sounds counter-intuitive but it does work not running everything parallel with the baseboard edge... And, in my view, it makes it look more interesting as ...

Re: What can I build on a 6ft board

if I didn't have a curve at the entrance to the station, and the line went straight along the baseboard, what kind of track plan could I get. Id like the run round loop to be able to hold a jinty size locomotive, ive seen some layouts there the station track plan basically starts as soon as the fidd...

Re: What can I build on a 6ft board

Thank you for the advice guys, and thank you Chris for the track plans, i will try and mimic your design in some way, plus I like the Idea of having small trains. The reason I'm building such a small layout is because I don't have much spare time to build a larger layout, so something this small wil...

Re: What can I build on a 6ft board

Let's see. http://i644.photobucket.com/albums/uu170/Emettman/Track%20plans/small1_zps3oojg5tp.jpg The biggest constraint here was the priority for a straight platform, which meant using Peco small electrofrog R & L points rather than the small elecrofrog Y, shown separately. As is, the run roun...

Re: What can I build on a 6ft board

On a 6ft by 1 1/2 ft board, a lot of things can be built. It's about choices and compromises. Does it have to be OO? The space might seem more suitable for N or OO9, though something interesting could be done in industrial 0:16.5, too. Any particular preference for the style/mechanics of the fiddle...

What can I build on a 6ft board

Hi fellow forum members, I'm in need of some advice, would anyone be able to show me what kind of track plan I could fit onto a 6ft by 1 1/2 ft board, i know it seems very small, but I don't have the space in my bedroom for anything bigger, plus as I don't have the technology to create a track plan ...

Re: All line rover trip

I do like to idea of travelling as much as I can, I do understand it would be tiring, and the penzance to Edinburgh is a no no tbh, I get bored on the 4 1/2 hour train from London to Glasgow, I don't mind doing that sort of journey, but any longer maybe not.
