Re: Nothing model railway available as a gift

Hornby's trio of Thompson Pacifics are scheduled for release between October and December, I have pre-ordered myself an Xmas Present with the name Steady Aim on it, hopefully it will make the sleigh in time!

Re: Control panels. Show us yours.

You don't want to see my wiring, it has improved over the years but still tends to be a mess! I base my panels on the old integra domino panels of the early 1970s Fiddle Yard South Control Panel.jpg This is the basic printed sheet, which is then glued to a thin sheet of card and affixed to a 5mm ply...

Re: narrow gauge railway going

One problem with these scales is vandalism, Kerrs suffered as does the club in Paisley, think it would need to be away from urban areas.

Re: Hornby R3839 Standard 2MT 2-6-0 78000

Given the standard of build, I have come to the conclusion that today's prices are not excessive, yes - I do remember making a vow that I would not spend more than £100 on a loco, then came the J36! Then it was that I will not spend more than £100 on a diesel, yes I did, class 29! Now I have pre-ord...

Re: Gateside and Northbridge - It begins at last!

Thanks for your supportive comments guys - I am sure this is just a hurdle that once crossed I will take a leap forward. I am much more organised than I was when I started the last project (except for frequently not being able to find things), and as have learned a lot of lessons I am hoping this wi...

Re: Gateside and Northbridge - It begins at last!

So on Monday night i rolled out wallpaper and drew out the Northbridge East Plan full size on the back, with the help of some points and a crossing, also marked the position of the holes for the point motors, all looks spot on as I expected on the small scale sketch. I have however almost got to the...

Re: And The Next Photo Will Have

@Lancastrian, actually I cannot now see any of your photos in my (Chrome) browser - I think it's because they are hosted on a non-secure site - (i.e. http not https). Maybe one of the mods (@Bufferstop) can advise? Weirdly if I open this site in Edge (the new version, which is Chrome under the hood...

Re: Train derailment near Stonehaven in Aberdeenshire (Scotland)

There must be dozens of threads regarding this tragic incident and in the majority of cases the threads have been locked as we have no business coming up with unsupported theory's, it is the job of the RAIB to thoroughly investigate and make a comprehensive report based on all the evidence.

Ah! the joy of the car boot find, we used to have a local monthly indoor car boot here in Troon but COVID has put paid to that, I found a few pugs but nothing main line. Locos are looking like great finds.

Re: Gateside and Northbridge - It begins at last!

Yes Guys, I think I can see the faintest chink of light at the end of the tunnel! Ex-Pat - yes it is the general idea to get each panel and the tracks they control fully wired and tested before moving on and yes as I knew the lifting section was going to bridge a join on the curve I took the precaut...
