Re: Fantasy Preservation List

would love to see the GWSR get to cheltenham spa as well as broadway and honeybourne (although that has been potentially delayed due to a someone trying to make the trackbed a public right of way) i could wish for that application to be withdrawn as well then... :D

Oh dear, I hope you stick with it, from what I've seen, I'd really like to see them finished now, as I'm sure you and everyone else here would. good luck!

Re: An early 1950's ex GW rural branchline

A lovely little layout, love the GWR toad van, it looks exactly as a real one did as it came into C&W at winchcombe where i help out waiting to be restored, the rust o the white bars are perfect (having studied it in detail having to sand it all off on a real one!)

Re: Hornby Railroad crane

i like it, how did you do the weathering, airbrushing or dry brushing with pastels or other powders etc? also, i think those chains look good, but could also do with a bit of weathering, they are glinting on that lovely rusty, umm, deck? (it's as good a name as any...) :D

Re: Decal printing

looking at craft computer papers, you can get decals for inkjet that you don't need to seal, but you "rub" on, sounds interesting, as the stuff they recommend for sealing is 7 quid!

Re: Cherry Blossom

chalk pastels, I don't like oil pastels, you can't work them as well. try scraping the pastel with a knife, so the powder that comes of lands on the wagon, then move that around with your finger instead, you get less streaks than putting it on directly.

Re: Look what I just got for a tenner

I have one of them, I bought it about 6 years ago when I was 8 for the then astronomical amount of £19.50! AS much as I like it, I was never really sure what it was, Caledonian or something?... I also like the fact it says, "built in britain", as opposed to "made" and/or "in...

Re: Cherry Blossom

I like using soft pastels, you can move it around with your fingers until you are happy with it, and if you get it wrong, you can just wipe it off with a damp cloth and start again, when happy, just give it a quick blast with some hairspray or fixative etc. shoe polish sounds interesting though, esp...

Re: Original Thomas and friends characters...

There's also daisy and bo-co, both bubblecar type things I think in the original book. And if you want a challenge, there's the narrow guage engines, those used to be my favourite stories when I read the book...
