Re: Walthers Blast Furnace kit - for Bilston steel works

Hi eagle50043 I don't envy you that construction job The kit will be that big that when combined with the smaller sized British rolling stock no one will pick the buildings are the wrong scale Have you got the pig iron trolleys and pigs, or any other internal rolling stock for this set up. I think W...

Re: Roller Shutter Doors

Hi dan8400
Once the door hole is cut and framed.
I would think"N" scale textured card or plastic corrugated iron sheet set up, with horizontal corrugations and painted to
match the frame would produce a reasonable facsimile for a roller door.

Re: Converting Hornby Dublo wagons to 2 rail

Hi spruso Just a thought The Hornby collectors club (for Dublo that is) Might be able to put you on to a source of replica or other suitable replacement wheels When Hornby Dublo changed over to two rail. Conversion parts for Hornby customers where fitted in the factory free of charge (that would not...

Re: my first attempt at a permanent board

Hi jay123 Plenty of track feed droppers is a very good thing. Not sure I agree with soldering the rail joint's (Or have I read it wrong), that will make it a PITA to add to and alter to improve the track layout. Even in the adult world these things are prone to change extension and improvement until...

Re: Tonglington Vale - 4ft by 4ft?

Hi Alex Don't loose heart. If you still have good points I would still connect the loops together and try and have some operational interest in the layout. I actually meant the and I use the term loosely "modern Triang" station buildings the ones with flat roofs red walls and white windows...

Re: Best type of paint to use on cork?

Hi Here is why you want to give things an undercoat. looks a lot better than just bare boards. it also means no white or bare board spots where the scatter doesn't take first time round. http://www.newrailwaymodellers.co.uk/Forums/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=28749&start=15 Go down to the pictures o...

Re: The MSLR in OO scale

Hi all Well I made up my mind and went with this. Now tell me you don't have room for a second station for passengers  Though calling it a station is well and truly over stating things I think  DSC00198 copy.jpg It's the closest I can get without scratch building. The building is a Hornb...

Re: Preserved railway terminus

Hi THE CHIEF Is There enough room in the void space for a couple of employees cottages. If so that explains where the workers came from. The simple expedient of a ladder up to the guards compartment is how the employees and their family's could get to and from civilization. It's been done that way i...

Re: N Gauge Island Railway RIVET COUNTERS BEWARE

Hi Jorge Not a fan of door layouts I find them to restrictive. But they can work very well plenty of past proof of that in the US model press. My thoughts are you need to set up a control center off the layout area. Where the controller is sitting looks a nice spot for a pier side for seaborne arriv...
