Re: Lucky's Yard - Work In Progress

Trackwork looks good, but the ballast size may be a bit big. No criticism, each to their own as they say, but you might have a look at a slightly smaller ballast.

Re: wire intube operation of points

Have a look half way down page 1 of my layout build and you'll see wire-in-tube for 42 points for a layout that is 21ft long. http://www.newrailwaymodellers.co.uk/Forums/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=40184/ And this is how I did it :- The points system is home made. The levers are 6mm sq brass with 3mm r...

Re: Bath Queen Square - video added 19/11/2014

Many thanks for all the positive comments about the layout and my first attempt at film directing. When I've actually mastered the video camera (don't hold your breath!) I'll re-post showing more of the possible engine and train movements. (I think I'll get my 6yr old granddaughter to do the filming...

Re: Bath Queen Square - my version

THE CHIEF » Wed Oct 08, 2014 12:15 am I really like the colour of the track. That looks top notch. I'd love to see a video of some locos moving around . Steven Speilberg, eat your heart out ! Here is a very amateurish video of my layout in action. Excuse the very poor quality but I could have done ...

Uncoupling problem sorted

As I'm sure like most people, I have a variety of OO gauge locos and coaches from old to new by several manufacturers and what I've found is that the coupling bars can be anything from 9mm to 13mm high from sleeper level. This means that not all locos will smoothly connect with all my coaching stock...

Very realistic ground cover and bushes. Nice one. Brings the layout to life a bit more. Keep up the good work.

My 34067 Tangmere caused DCC shorts

Glad you mentioned 'Tangmere' because that is one of the locos that is having the problem. I'm running DC though. I'll do a micrometer check on the back-to-back and see if they need changing.

Thanks for the responses.

Points problem with Hornby unrebuilt WC/BB

Have been having some running sessions more than scenery building for a change but discovered I've got stalling problems that only involve the Hornby unrebuilt WC/BB locos. Any other locos and all runs fine, including the Hornby rebuilt WC/BB and Merchant Navys. The route that is causing problems, i...

I'd love to see a video of some locos moving around.

I'm slowly working on that but have got a problem downloading a video from my camera to the computer. Will get it sorted in time.
Watch this space as they say

Re: Bath Queen Square - my version

Hi to each and all, Its' been a little while since I updated so thought I'd show a few photos of what I've been, slowly, up to. Have added gutters and downpipes to a few buildings and continued the ivy onto the shed roof. http://pbr1294.photobucket.com/albums/b607/clivef5915/Model%20Railway/114-2014...

Re: Alex3410 - My Railway

Hi Alex, I too am a shed dweller (when allowed !) and bought a nice new shiny shed many years ago. The shed company strongly advised placing the floor bearers on house bricks to improve air circulation underneath and to prevent rot. Followed their advice and absolutely no problems have emerged. Whil...
