Re: Re-spray process - Class 25 Ethel - New Uploads 25/5/13

Hi Jim, Thanks for the tip, but I've now started....primer went on OK and top coats have gone well so far. I saw on another thread that someone had filled in the side window on their's and one of the glazings was already missing, so I thought I'd just try it out! Learning curve, it looks OK now the ...

Re: Re-spray process - Class 25 Ethel

Well, having waited for ages, I've finally started and taken the plunge on the ETHEL project. A Bachmann Class 25 'Tamworth Castle' was sourced cheaply, and has had its body completely stripped, as well as having the motor and electrics removed from the chassis. I debated keeping the motor and fitti...

Re: Controller Advice

Cool!! :D

Deffo be good for Aux power stuff....maybe as a controller for testing stuff, but I'd be reluctant! I've got an old Tec-88 controller which leaks power and fried my N gauge Pannier! :(

Re: Controller Advice

As great as it is to be a) given something and b) given something historic such as that, I personally wouldn't be using it on any of my loco's!! Depending on what gauge you're running, I've found (from experience) that older controllers 'leak' a small amount of power, not enough to turn and run a mo...

Re: Hornby Stanier 4p/4MT loco crew

I've only ever used the Bachmann ones - they have two versions.

Springside models do some, dart casting, old Dapol/Airfix if you can find them!

Re: Woolmer and Alfieston - BR/SR OO Layout c.1950's

Took delivery of two new Bachmann mk1's in SR Green the other day!! What a joy they are compared to the old hornby/lima ones I've been running. I'm going to keep them though, as they still look good. After the success of the screw link coupling, I'm really tempted to fit out my rolling stock with ei...

Hornby Stanier 4p/4MT loco crew

Just picked up a lovely new Hornby Stanier, 2-6-4t 4p/4mt.

I'm trying to fit some loco crew, however can't figure out how to get into the cab!! It seems to be a pretty sealed unit with the only access through either the roof or windows!!

Re: Woolmer and Alfieston - BR/SR OO Layout c.1950's

Spent another half day in the loft today. Completed painting the backscenes with Dulex 'First Dawn'. The wills retaining arches which I painted a few week ago have been trial fitted around the turntable area. http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b144/mattonline/IMAG0608_zpsb5c3bf5e.jpg http://i18.photo...

Re: 'End of the Line' Exhibition Layout

Well its been a long time since I've updated on this post, but things have been going very well with it and I managed to get a couple of sensible pics. I've decided to call the station 'Woolmer' as it just sounds right for the type of area I'm trying to create. Mainly BR Standards with some SR regio...

Re: "Pen Y Bryn"

It is hard to get the inspiration to start the scenary and of course, takes time and patience!! Something I'm slowly getting better with!!

What manufactuer ballast do you use and do you spray (paint) it also, or just leave it??

Thanks
Matt
