Re: First 00 Layout - Any Suggestions Welcome

There's a layout in the Hornby Track Plans 10th edition book (Layout number 7 on page 19) that although slightly larger at 2000x2000mm would give give you the main points your after. 2 main running lines - one short and one long loop Station on a slight curve 8 sidings of varying length I was even g...

Re: St. Blazey's - My first layout - Stage 3 Building

Well that took ages and it's not even painted yet. So still a little way to go. Turned (?) staircase with balustrades made from Balsa and florist's wire for my cottage kit at an angle of 50 degrees rise. Staircase1sm.jpg Staircase2sm.jpg A straight flight of stairs just didn't seem right for this ki...

Re: First 00 Layout - Any Suggestions Welcome

Hi nevbull and welcome to the forum. :)
Unfortunately I see an immediate problem with this layout. Nothing can get into the station nor sidings without using 1st radius curves.
1st radius curves can really restrict what you can run.
Thanks

Re: Have you improved a Bachmann Auto Trailer?

VERY CLEVER! I thought once decoders had blown that was it. What a world of possibilities using a decoder opens up beyond loco control. I never realised!   I thought to do such things were why function only decoders were introduced. Fascinating stuff this DCC! :) Thanks End2end

Re: Have you improved a Bachmann Auto Trailer?

Sorry Bigmet I meant to add that to my last post. I have 3mm warm white LED's. Hmm using the motor output to control lighting and it's brightness. That's a new concept to me. Now you've got me thinking! Thanks End2end EDIT: Just looking at the auto trailer, I could minimise the LED's t...

Re: Have you improved a Bachmann Auto Trailer?

the functions will drive 100mA = 5 LEDs in parallel or 5 parallel circuits of 3 LEDs in series. What LEDs are you using? Hmmm. Not sure how I would wire that? 5 is definitely not enough and 5 parallel circuits in series sounds too large, only because there's very little space in the coach. But the ...

Re: St. Blazey's - My first layout - Stage 3 Building

Most defiantly BrightonMan. It's HO but where I plan to site it in the far corner of the layout I think I'll get away with it. After much deliberation I won't be installing a flickering fire circuit as on this kit the chimneys just don't line up coherently to the rooms below although it will have ot...

Re: Point Motor Wiring layout

Apologies for the thread hijack brober but I thought Flashbang had already answered your question. :? Wiring throughout needs to be at least 16/0.2mm (20AWG or 0.5mm2) e.g. 16/0.2mm equipment wire. (Be cautions of some so called "Layout Wire" sold by some retailers, as this is often 7/0.2m...

Re: Have you improved a Bachmann Auto Trailer?

Just going through my stock of decoders, I have the following :- A. - 4 pin Hornby R8215 with 4 pin socket on the end B. - 8 pin Hornby R8249 with leads terminating in 8 pins C. - 6 pin Gaugemaster that is just pins with no socket nor leads attached (not sure which model number this decoder is) D. -...
