Re: Just had to vent to people who would understand...

It could have been damaged in transit, or at the factory and "passed" as good to go. I can't tell you how many bathroom products that I unwrap that have been QC'd that arrive with damage that could only have been caused in the factory! (I fit/sell bathrooms). I've also had a few Bachmann p...

Re: bachmann 411 or hornby VEP>

If you want to model Southern then I would include a VEP in the stable, warts and all, but if your budget only allows for one unit then go for the CEP first. Personally I found running improved vastly on the VEP with a superior decoder vs the normal cheaper ones, in my case, a LOKPilot decoder. Woul...

Great pics. Thanks for sharing. I didn't know such a place existed. Will have to put that down as one to visit.

Re: Modelzone in administration

Sad to see the Signalbox go. Their shop was always worth a visit, well priced, well stocked with bits and pieces and friendly staff too.

Also sad for everyone losing their jobs.

Re: Kit building for beginners.

I have also just noticed on a side note.. Enamel paints are now apparently Highly explosive... so Royal mail will not take them... So If you want to spend £2.50 on a small tin 14ml if enamel paint... be prepared to pay £7 postage plus... As I was going to order some paint last night for a couple of...

No, not suitable. Will not sag when stuck on walls or ceilings correctly but as a railway baseboard? no chance.

Re: Best adhesive for insulating foam baseboards/scenery?

apparently drywall adhesive works but that's for sticking the celotex to walls. Not sure about for a model railway. To be honest having just done our extension with the stuff and seen how much loose material you get from the cut boards its not something I would choose for a layout not to mention tha...

Re: New Southend Based Member

Hi Nick, Basildon modeller here, modelling the Great Eastern.

I remember the boating lake well, both as a kid and then as a teen with loads of people sunbathing around it and jumping in. Is that what your modelling?

Cheers

Re: Platforms.

18mm plus a platform top might be a little high but this can be overcome by packing the track up by the height of the platform topping, so if the platform top is 1mm then use a 1mm packer under your track, something I didnt do and now regret

Re: Bratchell Models Class 321 NSE RTM

Thought I would post a note here as there was a lot of interest regarding the 319 in NSE, that Bratchell models have recently announced a RTM 319 in NSE. It is at pre-order stage so if there are enough pre-orders the model will go ahead. Bad timing for myself as were in the middle of a house extensi...
