Re: The Strategic Reserve

At the beginning, this thread was fairly interesting. Now, just getting a little boring. For anyone who REALLY wants to find out, there is The Freedom Of Information Act. Just get your MP to ask and await the response. If it comes back as 'Classified - secret', then I suggest we all start visiting e...

Re: GWR BRANCHLINE...EXE VALLEY

Some things I do as a modeller I think "yeh that looks OK". Then I see a picture like this and I think 'now that is spot on'. All credit to you for getting a truly realistic scene. Even down to the shadows, and the sheen on the platform rail ! And in N gauge, something my sausage fingers c...

Re: new 4th layout construction

Looks interesting from the photo.
all the rail joints have been soldered
I, and I'm sure a whole load of other modellers, had problems regarding track expansion last summer in the heatwave. Are you tempting fate by soldering all the joints?

Re: Sounds for your railway

Hi Alex, Is this something that can be used similar to a Cd player? I run DC and would like to have the sounds that would emanate from an engine shed - ie, steam noise, clanking (if there is such a word) and general steam loco movement sounds. Ideally place below baseboard so you have a general nois...

If only I knew about diesels

My layout is steam based on the jolly old Bath Green Park. Up until now all I have is steam locos but there are photos around which show a couple of diesels which I wouldn't mind adding to the stable. I assume they would have run in from Bristol or the midlands. One is a 'Peak' class and the other a...

Cheers Alex3410, damn near enough to what I was suggesting. So is 'newrailwaymodellers' nothing to do with this forum?

Cheers to all for the replies. Bufferstop, I now appreciate there would be costs involved which is obviously not wanted, but thanks for the consideration anyway.

What about ?

Like many others (I assume) I get a lot of inspiration from just viewing photos of layouts, sections of layouts, dioramas etc etc. Would it be an idea favoured by many to have a Forum Section purely of the photographs people upload to the other various threads and sections. I'm not an IT person so d...

Thanks for the replies. Ebay company 'Tintfit' seems to have what I need. Under item number 251395108056 should anyone else need some.

Re: Lumsdonia

I can only assume you are an octopus! 'cause you're going to need more than two hands to control that amount of track  And as for wiring it, will the National Grid in your area be able to cope :!: Genuinely, I think your plan is too expansive and the possible problems that you are going...

Stopping fading

My layout is in the shed which has its' long side facing south. There are 4 off 2x2 single glazed windows facing south which allow more than enough light in but also have a detrimental effect regarding fading on the layout, eg buildings, locos etc. At this time of year, any sunlight also raises the ...

Re: Etched nameplates

Try Evostick 'Seriously Strong' glue. Much the same attributes as so called 'superglue' but allows about 3 minutes to reposition. Then it sticks like poo to paper. it's non-stringy and don't use too much.

Re: New layout idea

I would certainly make the 'long crossing' a double slip, since if not, then anything entering on the lower of the two fiddle yard lines won't be able to get to the goods shed unless you really want to go via the loop into the platform and back out to the higher of the fiddle yard lines. Does that m...

Re: Hornby Sales : Non UK members take note

In light of what is apparently being quoted regarding Hornby's future trading style, and for those who have more than a passing interest, it is interesting to note the chairmans comments and to view the underlying revenue figures contained in their 2013 Annual Report - http://online.hemscottir.com/i...
