Re: Preserved Loco's with Fictitious Liveries

I'd have said that definition has been changed with use as it would be impossible to describe any current working steam loco as "preserved" if you used the literal definition above. This coming from somebody in a 31 word sentance, without punctuation. wow. :P   What's an ap...

Re: Blackpool Central - Kirkham Wesham junction.

That's the 'line to Central. The direct “Marton” line from Preston (which also passed through Blackpool South station) was closed in 1967, leaving a large tract of wasteland along with disused embankments and bridges. That, from Wiki, should explain.

DBR already own a large part of Chiltern and WSMR. No new liveries there.

Re: Scrap iron?

It's both - new track is left in strategic positions so it's readily available in an emergency, whilst some old track is deemed too difficult to recover economically.

It's also good for the driver, because he has several feet of metal between him and any obstacles - 37515 and the potato lorry being a case in point.

Re: Karl's photograph thread

Nicely edited, you've really brought out the colours. And the location is good, too, is there a reverse angle? One thing though, in the cropped version, I would've placed it a bit more off centre...

Re: Blackpool Central - Kirkham Wesham junction.

Is it to be found at SD405330?

(Grid reference, put it into Multimap)

Looking at the location and the 1:25000 mapping, It looks like an underpass related to the junction. I have a book which will probably tell us, but it's hiding from me.
