Not just 60s, it's common practice across all companies. IIRC, Freightliner are/were using Class 47s at Crewe.

if it werent for the 31s, 37's and 47's half the preserved railways wouldnt have survived proberly. Explain that please.On what basis is 31's, 37;s and 47's helping preserved lines? I'm fairly sure they're banned, but I'm by no means an expert on mainline steam. 60mph would cause a lot of trouble on the modern railway anyway.

As I understand it, 9Fs are banned from running on NR, so restoring it would be rather pointless.
