okii thanks for clearing that up :) hadnt expected the 60s to be sold so soon tbh. Is the NRM still in the habbit of aquiring locos for preservation??? surely the teenage cancer trust 60 or any 60 must be worth saving It has to be designated before salvation - no 60 is designated. ahh okay...what w...

It has to be designated before salvation - no 60 is designated.

60s are better built than a 66, can pull more and use less fuel. Shoddy/non-existant maintenance is to blame for most of the current problems.

EWS/DBS have a policy of not putting anything out to tender that could be used by a rival company - expect any 60s that are up for sale anytime soon to be heavily stripped/robbed wrecks.

He wasn't going at 120, he was doing 90 before the brake was applied. The driver hid behind the desk.

It's worth pointing out that the driver of that HST hit behind the desk after applying the emergency brake - that's what saved him.
