Re: EWS TMD, N Gauge, Modern Era

Today I was going to do what I thought was the simple task of re-numbering my Stobart Containers. I have the C-Rail kit that I purchased from the N-Gauge Society shop and set down to do it. I have a fibreglass pen that I used to take the old number off. What I was trying to do is leave the first num...

Re: EWS TMD, N Gauge, Modern Era

Weekend update - I had chance yesterday to prime and paint all 55 street lamps. I sprayed them silver after the grey primer had dried and then the tops were painted by hand with Tamiya white X2. I then had the task of adding them to the layout this morning. A simple process of drilling a hole fillin...

Re: EWS TMD, N Gauge, Modern Era

Ok Post woman came today with two parcels out of the three. I had one package from P D Marsh and another from Knightwing. From P D Marsh I have received 55 more street lamps (C02) and from Knightwing I have two more Porta-cabins (PN10), TMD accessories (A29), 2 forklift trucks (A51) and Lineside pow...

Re: EWS TMD, N Gauge, Modern Era

You will want a road to access the rear of the TMD for lorries to bring in spares and fuel so you could mark out a narrow road here. Also a fire escape path would probably be a good idea with a few fire doors along the side of the TMD. Otherwise probably just junk or spare parts would do here. I li...

Re: EWS TMD, N Gauge, Modern Era

Your foliage and scenic work looks really good too. One thing that I have found works well is to put some (but not too much) green surface scatter around railway buildings, signal relay boxes, on the edges of tarmac areas, or even growing out of cracks in pavements or road surfaces etc. There are a...

Re: EWS TMD, N Gauge, Modern Era

Hi there Just wanted to say that the newly added roadside foliage looks extremely good in my opinion and I think you've done a great job so far with the ballasting, which I always assumed to be a complete pig in 'N' gauge! As for the hairspray moment, that's nothin mate: I had to buy my girlfriend ...

Re: EWS TMD, N Gauge, Modern Era

Mr Postman brought new additions to my layout today! I have new transfers for renumbering my Dapol Stobart Containers, these have come via the N gauge society from C-Rail. More excitedly though my BR Snow Plough in Network Rail livery has arrived. This looks really smart (so smart that i'm thinking ...

Re: EWS TMD, N Gauge, Modern Era

Today's update!!! I have been out and purchased some clump foliage and light fine turf today from Hobbycraft in Coventry (which is ideal cos the train station is near the back of the car park so whilst someone was shopping I can train spot better than standing on the end of the lingerie aisle). I wi...

Re: Bloxwich Depot, N gauge

Great start mate, I love the depot. I have a loft layout under construction and in the summer it unbearable to stay up there for long and thought this summer to model a small 4 x 1 layout and you've started me thinking about some cracking ideas. Gonna keep a watch on this one, just hope you stick wi...

Re: EWS TMD, N Gauge, Modern Era

Yesterday the postman brought me my package from Hattons. Tree Armatures and Fine Leaf Foliage (in medium), so I couldn't wait to get out of bed this morning and make some trees. Shame I have to work this afternoon or I would still be at it now. http://i1237.photobucket.com/albums/ff476/TractorMatt/...

Re: Tinsdale EWS TMD, N Gauge, Modern Era

Sorry not really done loads this weekend to the layout as i'm waiting for supply's that haven't arrived in time for this weekend. I'm waiting for a delivery from Ebay and Hattons for hedging, tree armitures and foliage (woodland scenics)? I have given the grass area on the hill another shading of gr...

Re: EWS TMD, N Gauge, Modern Era

Sorry no updates over the weekend had to work and spare time at the moment is taken up in preparation of baby number two due in 5 weeks. I have some holiday this week so I have had a little time to model. I've turned my focus to the buildings that I want to scratch build. I'm doing the buildings so ...

Re: EWS TMD, N Gauge, Modern Era

Great detailing in the TMD Matt. It will be a shame to cover it all with a roof really. What is your plan for the roof? Will it have plenty of skylights to be able to see in? I know it seems a shame to cover it up i'm debating on the roof that either detaches or to add beams and leave it off. Somet...

Re: EWS TMD, N Gauge, Modern Era

I've not been on the layout today just the work bench. Painting has been the main focus and mainly to finish bits I have brought for the TMD. I have made workbenches, shelving and platforms today from plastic card and strip. I have found that I have areas where more accessories are need, so going to...
