Re: Anither question

Thanks guys looking at the Heljan price, I doubt I will buy one of theirs as nice as they look, plus because I am not DCC, I don't need the digital tech.

Anither question

I am modelling a predominantly steam era, but during the early 1960's era there were two trains regularly hauled by diesels, one, the 7.18pm from Swindon to Sheffield passed the back our family home every evening hauled usually by a Hymek. There are a couple of Hornby ones available for decent money...

Re: Archive loco allocation site

Another good steam resource is http://www.whathappenedtosteam.com/ this is Peter Hands site and is an on-line version of the little books that he published many years ago describing the withdrawal and scrapping of steam locomotives, it is a fascinating site Jim Tha...

Re: Archive loco allocation site

The Ian Allan "BR Steam Motive Power Depots" series by Paul Bolger show the allocations (steam only!) for each depot as at 1950, 1959 & 1965. For L.N.E.R. locos the Yeadon's Volumes show the full allocation history for each individual locomotive. And of course the individual years' &q...

Re: Archive loco allocation site

I stopped updating my thread after a few snide remarks on that forum, someone happened to find my thread and sent the link and I thought it might be of interest to others. Thanks RFS, I will look at that link later, I still have a couple of my old Ian Allen shed books, these sites fill in the gaps a...

Archive loco allocation site

I have been posting on another site for some considerable time, but on occasion found it both unhelpful and at times some of the posters are downright ignorant, one of the reasons I joined on here as having been browsing, it seems a whole lot friendlier and less competitive. I hope this doesn't caus...

Re: If you were a model railway manufacturer, what would you make?

I think there is two distinct areas to aim at, in my opinion high price items are not going to attract new blood into the hobby. I cannot afford to buy my Grandchildren train sets at current prices and they will grow out of Thomas going round and round on an oval. I understand the need for "co...
