Re: New finescale NSE southern layout

Yeah Peco code 75 isn't generally regarded as finescale (although I don't think there's any 100% official definition), so some people might get a bit snobby if you refer to it as that  (I'm not referring to anyone here!) Finescale is usually taken to mean the sleeper spacing is 00 rather than H...

Re: First N Gauge venture

Hi Chris, This is looking pretty sweet :) There's something really nice about that corner hill. I think I'd try curving the backscene a bit so there isn't that obvious corner in the middle. Not sure if I should have laid whole sheets of cork instead of cutting to fit the track? Anyway it's done now....

Oops silly me, I think I did see the other pic but thought you'd moved it  Looks a lot more sensible from the other angle heh.

Re: Ade's 00 Layout

Your Plan looks realy good, the station looks to be quite big :) Thanks Ste :) Hehe yeah it's pretty much all station... I'd love to do more (like a huge viaduct!) ... but I don't really like the idea of compressing things too much to fit them in (perhaps when I get my mansion I can extend things 8...

Re: My 6x4 layout. more than just a trackmat

finished the retaining wall for the yard scene, just need some people to put some atmosphere on it. Hi Hammy, I think I'd give some thought to the siting of the streetlamps in this area - nobody would ever wire a lamp in so close to edge like that. You probably also want some kind of fence there at...

That cutting looks like it's gonna be pretty spectacular! Very fast progress you're making :) Ade P.S. Sammy, why are you writing in red? In the UK at least it's used for threatening letters and final demands only, and on forums it's often reserved for moderators when they want to tell someone off.....

Re: Ade's 00 Layout

Thanks Mort :) Mock-ups are a good idea - I'm thinking of trying a few on my layout (when I get to that stage). I can't quite make out whether that main building is open in the middle or is just missing a bit of roof. Yeah... I need to do it at an early stage because it's probably gonna influence wh...

Can't wait to see the roof with finished paint. I might have to nick your slates technique.

Re: Ade's 00 Layout

How much longer do I have? I've made a full size mock-up of the bottom right corner of the layout (station building and road). I have a bit of a dislike of roads and things terminating strangely against backscenes, so this was to check how things looked from various angles. I've managed to mas...

Ooooh so he's out of the closet now!

Remember, everyone, closets are for clothes! (or piles of locos.)

Re: First ever build, size is an issue!

Hi again Graeme, How the hell do you make your own points? can you post a link to a guide anywhere??? Sorry, just noticed that question. The most common method involves soldering bits of rail to copper-clad sleepers (circuit board stuff), using a template (from a kit, e.g. SMP, C&L, Marcway, or ...

Re: Help Needed or Just say whats wrong

Hi, The thing that leaps out at me is the station platforms on the tightish curve (I can't quite tell if it's 1st or 2nd radius) You'll get carriages/ locos overhanging and so will have to site the platform a long distance from the track to get adequate clearance - which might look odd (i.e. people ...

I'm just in the middle of doing the same thing :)

Yours looks a nice plan and everything looks right to me (not that I know anything much :D)

Re: My 00 gauge layout jakeys junction!

It's a nice looking plan. As far as I know signal boxes are sited to minimise the distance to the points and to have a good view of everything, so I think yours is in the right spot. I'm not too sure about the station - is it 4 platforms with 3 bay lines? That seems rather inefficient - or are the o...

Wow you're not kidding... some of the worst modelling I've seen. It doesn't even fit on the platform :( We really should start a fund to buy him some Scaledale items.
