Re: Oxford Rail Wagons

D605Eagle' I agree entirely with your view on the couplings! The reason is that they use the Hornby type (or equivalent) with the long-reach hook. Remove the original, and stick a Bachmann type in the NEM-pocket instead, and you solve the problem! I do the same with all Hornby models with NEM-shafts...

Re: 2nd 2017 forum competition thoughts

First of all I must admit that I have never entered a competition. I follow them all with interest though, and I am indeed happy with it as is! After all it does already have a topic - Railway Modelling. The beauty of railway modelling as a hobby is that in includes just about any topic you can thin...

Thank you! I think your decision to use Trix C-track is a good one! The quality is second to none and the system of contacts between the rails are simply the best. :D

The reflection of the windows on the platform seems to suggest a rainy afternoon! http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u138/rosenblad_photos/Reflections_zps2yvqjwut.jpg My little village is coming along nicely, and the I think garden fence print by Wordsworth is a rather nice addition. Thank you Mike!...

Metadyneman, that really bothers me too! My guess is that they have an agreement with the Royal Mail about standard box sizes.

Re: No Wonder I hate Painting !!

Humbrol has been my paint of choice since the 50s too. Stirring 40 year old paint is not a problem, but when trying to stirr up new tins that were filled with sludge I have not been successful either. The quality of the new paint is simply not the same!

Re: Rosevale

Dent station has always been a favourite of mine, so I was very happy when I could add Hornby's version to my collection. A few chimney pots from Dart castings and flowers in hanging baskets from Harburn Hobbies made it even better. Bachmann's Market Hampton waiting room does not look out of place e...

Re: pre made switch panels?

How about cutting a hole in your fascia panel, screw a piece of sheet metal, fibre board or plastic from behind and install a switch from behind? http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u138/rosenblad_photos/20161111_200210_zpsnwtlucxr.jpg With this method you will not accidentally move the toggle since ...

Re: Rosevale

All buildings and accessories from the old layout was also used on this layout. They are mostly Bachmann and Hornby Skaledale. The buffer stops were Peco, but they did not fit the GeoLine track. The Lanarkshire Models kits came to the rescue, and they look very good. After a coat of paint (Lifecolor...

When the glue bonding the plastic ballast base to the baseboard is dry I spread Woodland Scenics ballast over the plastic base in the usual way giving this result: http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u138/rosenblad_photos/20161102_090835_zps3t9ct9cs.jpg I've found that the ballast is often disturbed ...

For some time now I've wanted to try the Roco GeoLine track with a ballast base. The beauty of the system is the way point motors and their decoders are simply installed within the ballast base, leaving the rails to act as wiring. The fact that the points are fully equipped with polarized live frogs...

Re: Tom's Workbench

I've started installing interior lighting in my buildings. First I give the interior walls a coat of matt black that acts as a light block preventing the light from shining through the walls. Then a coat of light grey that helps spread the light evenly inside the building. I use screw sockets with L...

Re: New DCC decoder algorithm

Nice job. You have neatly done what -amazingly - the RTR track suppliers seem to be completely ignoring. Why no DCC 'plug and play' track system with a servo/decoder ready installed for each point movement? (Simple options for independent busses for both point operation and track supply would poten...

Thank you Bufferstop and Hilux5972 for your suggestions. I have been (and still am) of both the same opinions! This is the confusing world of OO gauge!
