Re: My 6x4 layout, Sumware

It looks like we both have come to the same conclusion. Hornby's paint is tough stuff!

Re: My 6x4 layout, Sumware

I just found this thread and I think you have built a fantastic layout. You have managed to create so much atmosphere in so little space! Well done! I am building a much smaller layout now and you have given me so much needed inspiration! :D I hope you don't mind me asking, but how did you remove th...

Re: Great Central Railway - Easter Gala

I was at Quorn on the same occasion. Here's a shot I took of Tornado: http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u138/rosenblad_photos/Tornado.jpg That station is simply fantastic! It seems to be untouched by modern times. As if that wasn't enough, so did the friendly old couple who ran the coffee shop on t...

Derailing HST - problem solved!

The first mk3 coach in my Hornby HST set derailed when entering a curve with the dummy unit running at the front of the train. On closer inspection I discovered that the hook on the tension lock coupling got caught on underside of the dummy Buckeye coupler, preventing the bogie from turning when the...

Re: Slow progress on a Norwegian layout

Demolition seems to bring vast amounts of debris - messy old job !! I wonder how many complex designs meet their fate before completion ....... I bet it's well over 60% Anyway keep us informed of how you're progressing. Geoff T. Yes, it's incredibly messy, and I'm sure I'm not alone! I will keep yo...

Hi Rebecca!

Thank you for your quick reply. It sounds like we might discuss some more future shopping at the New Modeller Shop! :D

Re: New Modellers Shop - Great service

I had decided to order a wagon to support the New Modellers Shop and this forum that I have become so fond of. Why do you use Parcelforce for shipments to Norway? The £9 wagon was going to cost me £46 when postage was added! No way will I pay that!

Re: Slow progress on a Norwegian layout

Work on demolishing this layout has started. The quality of the work done during construction is evident but when I built it I didn't think I would kill it so soon! Here's the last photo ever: http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u138/rosenblad_photos/Bilde.jpg I'll be sad to see it go but it is a new...

To get back on topic again; I was very disappointed when I read the review in the Hornby Magazine saying that the pantographs are plastic mouldings!

Re: Slow progress on a Norwegian layout

Hello rosenblad, that's a difficult decision you've made, but probably one you'll later be pleased you made. There's no point in soldiering on with something you've lost heart in. Better to start afresh with a clean page and accumulated knowledge so you can advance with confidence :) I'll look forw...

Re: Slow progress on a Norwegian layout

Hi! I have come to the conclusion that I have bitten off more than I could chew, so I have finally decided to dismantle this railway in favour of a design that stands a chance of actually getting finished! The project has taught me a lot, so I guess it hasn't been a total waste of time! 8) Be...

Re: Slow progress on a Norwegian layout

Hi! I finally got around to buying a frame for the certificate showing that SON was here! I put it on the wall just above my workbench, and I think it looks rather good! Here's a pic: http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u138/rosenblad_photos/Onthewall.jpg There hasn't been any other activity on the r...

Re: From the fjords to my attic!

Hi NSB_IE! I'm thrilled that you're actually planning to build a Norwegian layout! :D Does that mean that you are Norwegian or live in Norway? My reason for asking is simple - I'm Norwegian! If you live in Norway I suggest you stay away from the Signal Box. I had some very bad experience with them! ...
