Re: Track cleaning

If it is a graphite stick I can assure you that it works very well! I wouldn't really call it a cleaner, but it certainly does improve power pick-up!

Dad-1, it's actually quite warm here too today, at +9 degrees! All the snow is gone after some very heavy rain as well! I don't like the snow either, but I can't do very much about it! :D

Re: NRM 2017 00 'Tour' STARTED

Guy has arrived safely in Norway! Today we had the first snowfall of the year, so I took him outside to show him our very white neighbourhood before we start rolling on Rosevale! The trip accross the North Sea with Ammonia wasn't as bad as expected!

I don't know about that, Paul. I believe the North Sea is a bit rough at the moment. :(

Glencairn

I dare not think about that. Ammonia was built to work on an inland lake!

Glencairn, I'm so glad to see Guy boarding Ammonia! Not many wagons do that anymore!

Re: Is Cooper-Craft dead?

Unless there are a lot of seriously mistaken people there, I wouldn't order from the Coopercraft website. There are allegations that people order (and pay for) plastic kits that they never receive. I ordered a couple of kits in February 2013, but the kits I paid for never arrived. Trying to get in ...

Re: Tom's Workbench

After Photobucket ruined all my posted photos, I am trying a new site. Here's my latest uncoupling tool. It's simply a bent wire fastened to a torch with heat-shrink tubing. It's so much easier to use than my previous ones without lights! https://s26.postimg.org/4jjcmeeyd/20170825_145155.jpg

I would love to join the tour too! Rosevale is ready for it. The last tour I enjoyed was Olympic Olivia way back in 2011!

Re: Model Rail magazine

I must say I agree with GWR-fan. This article is only about fitting Kadees to the stock running on his own layout Polwyddelan. As such it simply says that there are other alternatives to the tension-lock couplers.

To be honest, I would not bother trying! That would be extremely difficult to do!

Re: Weird Stuff On The railways. What Have You Seen?

We have just returned from a wonderful week in Tuscany! At the railway station I noticed that the rails were sprayed with white paint! http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u138/rosenblad_photos/20170515_122516_zpsmturjqvw.jpg I can only imagine that it's meant to reflect the sun as a way to cool the r...
