Re: First ever build, size is an issue!

It seems that i have a trackplan at last!!! I've been a bit cheeky and started another thread on the track layout/design section to canvas some broader opinion. After some sound and constructive advise from DMH and Quentin (thanks again guys :D ) i've come up with this:- http://i711.photobucket.com/...

Re: 1st N gauge test track

Just picked up this thread, looking great! Wish i had gone n gauge, so much detail in such a small area...

Question please gerbyl, the stone walls either side of your country lane atop the tunnel, are they bought or scratch built?

keep up the good work.

Cheers

Re: First ever build, size is an issue!

Ok time for a non update! Not much to report, I got the book which I ordered from the library :- The Model Railway Design Manual by C.J. Freezer. Not exactly the most dynamic of publications, looking thru I first thought it was from the 70's but was actually first published in 1996! I'm sure it will...

Re: First ever build, size is an issue!

Decent guides seem a bit thin on the ground (although there are books - one I've seen but not read is "An Approach to Building Fine Scale Track" (or something close to that) which looks good and I think I've seen recommended). About the best thing I found online was this thread on another...

Re: First ever build, size is an issue!

didn't take long! ok here it is switched around a bit and also some rough idea of a station area and residential area. http://i711.photobucket.com/albums/ww116/Graymee1/layout4.jpg I've realised i've nowhere to put in a level crossing so if i'm gonna have some kind of road in my housing area i'm thi...

Re: First ever build, size is an issue!

BTW, does your layout have a name yet Graymee? Not yet, I'm waiting for some inspiration. I'm just about to get the single malt out though so maybe it will come tonight! I'm kinda leaning towards the second plan, it's simpler in both design and operation and would give me more scope for mode...

Re: BomBaDillic's new 00 layout - Lodge Valley

Just finished posting a couple of trackplans on my thread, thought i'd stop by and see how things are fairing over at Lodge Valley. Looking good fella, the cutting is really impressive, should look great once it's scattered. I like the elevated church too, the low angle shot looking back down the cu...

Re: First ever build, size is an issue!

Ok, it's now 11:30 pm and my eyes are hurting, i've come up with a couple of trackplans using anyrail. I'm not really sure what they are trying to achieve but i would welcome your feedback. I have just ordered one of those cd roms off ebay which claims to have all of the answers but....still it has ...

Re: First ever build, size is an issue!

Hammy and Geoff, after many hours of hair pulling in front of Anyrail, i am really struggling to get something that works. I was considering using the trackmat layoutbut looking at it I can't work out where the third oval dissapears to and why. On the photo in the handbook which came with my set it ...

Re: BomBaDillic's new 00 layout - Lodge Valley

That looks fantastic! Oh and glad to hear the war wound is on the mend BTW. I'm interested in your incline, i've been advised that unless i use almost a full oval i could only look at a max of about 1/2 inch of height (1 and 1/2 if i use almost all of an oval.) Apparently due to steam locos not havi...

Re: First ever build, size is an issue!

That's what i thought Ade, not really worth it for the amount of elevation possible. that's probably a good thing cos i think i'm being a bit ambitious anyway

Feet on the ground Graeme (and the track  )

Re: BomBaDillic's new 00 layout - Lodge Valley

Ouch!

Nice to see another 6x4starting out. I'm at about the same stage as you, but haven't buit an incline yet (it's on the cards though)

Hope the finger heals quickly.

Re: First ever build, size is an issue!

Quick update ( due to not taking long to report nothing much!) I won some track on e-bay today :D got my eye on some other bits tomorrow. Hope to get that before the weekend in time for the baseboard being finished. Support frame for baseboard is all cut, holes drilled to allow wires to be routed et...
