Re: The Loop Line

Its q...

Re: My 6x4 layout, Sumware

Really like the layout and your images and videos geoff! I wouldn't worry as regards your painting those dapol figures look great with well picked out detail and use of colour. One tip you might want to use is undercoating with black (I use hicote acrylic primer) which makes life a bit easier. While...

Re: The Loop Line

Sorry for the lack of updates, been a bit busy with real life! However been doing a bit in the last month including a big effort to get the bare boards covered with some kind of scenery, a 'first fix' if you will... http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o138/thindigital/sept%2009%20layout%20pics/DSCI15...

Re: A layout for Kaneda - Photo Update!!

cheers m8! - the vehicles are mostly out of scale but what the hell! my lads got a huge bucket of die cast so it was worth picking out the odd item just to get us going. Having said that we did pick up a Mercedes roadster from Morrisons for 80p and that had 1/80th marked on it so keeping my eyes pee...

Re: Loxley Lane, 6x4, OO layout

cheers G, although I think you have me mixed up with someone else - my best moments are a mixture of luck, cider and impatience  might have a punt on a bachmann shunter then trainsontime have them unboxed for a tenner our plans are looking quite similar now, there being only so many permutatio...

Re: Loxley Lane, 6x4, OO layout

Hi Graeme, Great thread and interesting to see how your plan has evolved. Very similar to our own experiences in starting out. After many revisions of our plan we added a fiddle yard too so we can run trains 'off stage' - (and collect loads more stock and locos hehe), are you tempted to try and sque...

Re: A layout for Kaneda - Photo Update!!

well I haven't had chance to attack the rest of the ballasting but a bit more 'digital' scratchbuilding has produced 2 decent length platforms: http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o138/thindigital/DSCI1367.jpg images of the platform surfaces were made in photoshop then printed and stuck to mountboard...

Re: A layout for Kaneda - Photo Update!!

Look at that - I gave some helpful advice! It was from this page I learned the technique.... http://www.brifayle.ca/1home.html when 25mm figure painting (back in the day) I would add washes and highlights but I think for this scale I will keep the figures unweathered and bright. I will be ...

Re: Hasford Blacklock - N-Gauge

That ballasting looks great and cheers for the misting first advice. Just doing ours now and putting 50/50 pva water onto dry ballast just makes puddles and clumps.

Did you paint with washes to weather the ballast?

Re: A layout for Kaneda - Photo Update!!

Well another small rethink on track layout has resulted in the fiddle yard been switched to the right. Much better access to it now as it dosen't run behind the wardrobe anymore! http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o138/thindigital/kanedaslayout12copy.jpg This is now set in stone as it were as I've b...

Re: A layout for Kaneda - Photo Update!!

Thanks for the encouragement Sprintex! Heres the track plan as it is now...... http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o138/thindigital/kanedaslayout11copy.jpg Im not totally happy with the fiddle yard as some running around of trains is needed to prevent having to propel to leave the scenic section, but...

Re: A layout for Kaneda - Photo Update!!

Sorry no updates for a while but real life issues have been taking a front seat. Back on track now and modelling is continuing on our little roundy round layout. The layout is now in a larger room. Ive had another think about the track plan and simplified things even more, removing the canal idea an...
