Re: powering point motors

I have a 16v ac 1amp power supply not in use. Will this provide enough power to charge/power a CDU which eventually will power 12+ point motors? (not all at once! I only envisage 2/3 points being changed within a 2 to 3 second time frame). Got to have the CDU built yet, but I think our local electro...

set track points

I think this query, request for advice, fits in this forum. I've finally started building my spare room layout. (Posted over a year ago!). The baseboards are down. Most of the 1st level track is laid & connected via drop wires to the bus. I'm using both 100 streamline points & set track poin...

Re: Garden railway 45mm gauge - Gradients

Or put another way 4% means for every 100 units you go forward, you go up 4 units. Anyrail is superb software, the only element of it that is difficult (IMO) is the gradients.

Re: Is there an alternative to the Hornby 4 AMP Transformer?

I'm been using a 'NEWSTAR' Model NSC-40 switching power supply. This accepts input AC 100-240v 50/60Hz. output is variable; at 15v its 4.5Amp. I've been using it with my Hornby DCC controller for 6mths with no problems. It was purchased in a local hardware store at a third of the price of Horby's 4A...

Re: Free Track Planning Software

by Brooksy on Thu Nov 26, 2009 10:06 pm I'll second Xtrkcad and add if you like anyrail so much why don't you pay for it? It's not really that expensive and these guys are trying to run a business and develop the software further (I expect). If I could walk into a store & buy anyrail off the sh...

Free Track Planning Software

I'm sure many of you know that anyrail has a free download, but this is limited to 50 sections of track. However the plan can be saved (eg 1.any)* then be exported as a picture (eg 1.PNG). So what I have been doing for the large layout I have designed is saving it as a pic 50 pieces at a time. Make ...

Re: I need your views and opinions

This is my attempt with anyrail.. Unfortunately I thought you said 3X2.5 not 4x2.5, so you could extend all the horizontal straight sections by 1m. I reversed the point serving the coach track to give more space

This is 3" too long, but fulfils your requirments. Incline is very steep (30:1 or less).

Model Rlwy in Philippines

just moved house within the Philippines so the old layout hs been ripped up. The new railway space is 8' x 10' spare room, so I've come up with this design to use my existing stock of track. The colors show which track will be laid first. (Blue then Green the Red then Yellow). The control well is acc...
