Re: 5volt to 12volt converter

Just hoping I get more than 2 hours running time before I need to recharge the powerbank! As you can see from my deliberations above I have no idea what the method should be used to calculate the running time. :?

Re: Tomix Track System

The Tomix track is yet to arrive, but today I received a dozen pieces of Kato track (from Hattons -much quicker delivery than ebay). How do people fix the track to the baseboard? My small plywood board is stored on its end. The peco oo/ho track is pinned but I would also like to keep the Kato fixed ...

Re: 5volt to 12volt converter

I've ordered a 20000ma powerbank and one of the 5v to 12v cables. I'm looking forward to seeing if it all works or not :) Assuming a little loco draws 400ma is there any way of calculating how long it will take to drain the powerbank, or at least making a rough estimate? I'm no electrician but I'm t...

Re: 5volt to 12volt converter

One of those PWM controllers arrived at my home last week Paul and, as you suggested, I'm looking for a way to make it completely self contained & portable!

Re: 5volt to 12volt converter

Approx 2 quid + 1. 50 postage, so if it will work its not worth me trying to build anything... I suppose I should have phrased my question better! Is the output going to have enough amperage to power a modern 4 wheeled Hornby loco? If the answer is a 'definitely no' I won't pursue it, but at that pr...

Re: Removing dcc

Most DCC locos will run on DC (analogue), many are shipped that way. If not you just need to choose 'DC enabled' on the DCC setup. If you do not have access to a DCC controller capable of altering the CV's perhaps the vendor can check the CV and adjust it if neccessary.

Re: Tomix Track System

Thanks railsquid, that video is very reassuring. My 4 wheeled locos will be using the Kato 103-11 chassis which I think will have no problem. the rolling stock is planned to be 2 x 10cm long coaches. each with 2 peco bogies. As Mike says the couplings may object!

Re: Tomix Track System

I've ordered 180 degrees of Tomix tight curved track, together with some straights to experiment on. Ordered from Japan on ebay so I will be waiting at least 3 weeks. The price was right, so if locos & short wheelbase rolling stock are defeated I will buy some curves that are around 9inch rad. T...

Tomix Track System

I'm considering incorporating a short 009 rail system serving a harbour (00 track will be the mainline). To achieve what I want really tight rad curves are needed, which Tomix have (4 inch rad!) . Has anybody got any experience of this system, is it code 80, 55, or something else?

Re: New Collector, old Collection

I see, like most of us, you are trying to keep your costs down so you might wish to consider this option for an inexpensive controller: https://www.budgetmodelrailways.co.uk/accessories.html The case costs 3.50GBP.(+postage). The electronics from Ebay are about another fiver (post free), thats the p...

Re: Egg Tray Sandwich

Unfortunately they do not sell celotex, kingspan etc here in the Philippines, but I can get egg trays!
I keep looking in the hardware stores but I can't find anything light and stiff that might do the job.
