Re: G'day all from down under

Hey Wayne.

Welcome. Whats your railway plans?

Tell us please - which way does the water go down the plughole there? I sit next to a guy from Canberra at work & he says he can't even remember!

Re: UNDERLAY

Try cork. 1.5mm - Guagemaster sell the stuff. GM130 is the product code I think. Worth a punt on your experiment board. Well done on starting! Often the hardest part.

Re: London loft build

A minor progress update. Have copied a technique from Richard of Everard Junction http://bit.ly/1Q1AeBZ fame. The cork laying (only two sheets so far) has been progressing down the northern side of the layout: http://i226.photobucket.com/albums/dd289/lozstlouis/88DD8CF9-77E9-4C29-9F98-AE82CBEC39B2_z...

Re: London loft build

Have actually done something tonight. Got home from work, went to Wickes and got some ply. Started to put some tops on my frames: http://i226.photobucket.com/albums/dd289/lozstlouis/49CA38FF-F3E0-48BD-B7E5-044CE6F7C725_zpsfwq9tppf.jpg Am going to build some depth into the scenery but this is about i...

Went to Tolworth today. Forgot it was on until I glanced in the show pages of Model Rail magazine: http://i226.photobucket.com/albums/dd289/lozstlouis/C5519A7E-D313-4BA2-8742-9BB6125D3547_zpsb1pddkyl.jpg Nice 3rd rail work here: http://i226.photobucket.com/albums/dd289/lozstlouis/38DA7F5E-5988-41C4-...

Re: London loft build

The weather is rubbish outside & days are shorter. Went into the loft today after watching some YouTube videos of railways. Trying to get my interest back up again. The rather depressing scenes we've all seen in Paris led me to find something positive to get back into! We'll see what next few da...

Another distraction... Was coming through Paddington the other night. Thought I would stop to look at the Night Riviera leave, but the shunter was more interesting than the 57 that hauls it: http://i226.photobucket.com/albums/dd289/lozstlouis/C3EC9812-4D35-4C94-9C68-CD97C435B324_zpseb5mgxcy.jpg http...

Re: London loft build

I would try and see if it's cheaper to buy larger sheets and get it cut down though as 4x2ft sheets can work out expensive on a large layout. I get bored very quickly with the logistics when moving 8'x4' sheets. I have work vans but its still hassle once I get home with them. The smaller ones I can...

Re: London loft build

Need to start to put some track-bed areas down. Thinking of using this http://bit.ly/1IluyCg for that job (12mm I think). Probably cut to the rough outline of where the track will go so I can put some up & down terrain. Thoughts?
