Re: Hornby Collett coaches

The bogies are turning without issue, not catching or twisting? It sounds like the articulation.

You could try swapping bogies with another coach to see if that replicates the error?

Re: Thinking aloud.

But still I cannot get that 0 gauge Terrier sitting so alone in my local model shop. A single straight line of O guage where the terrier pushes an autocoach into a station from a hidden section and then returns to hiding? Could be easily automated to run on a timer while you run 0-16.5 in the foreg...

Re: First layout and limited space

Have you tried any planbooks? CJ Freezers 60 plans for small locations has lots of tips on making good use of space. Peco's settrack planbook is also good for inspiration too even if you don't adopt anything straight up from the book! Overall the general idea seems good. I doubt you need a run aroun...

Re: Need help with a plan-OO gauge

Looks good. Should be plenty of fun.

I do recommend having second radius on the main running line. For 3 extra inches you get to run anything and you might get a new toy one day!

Railroad Ex Lima 09 with new chassis.

Its ridiculous they're still selling the jinty chassis inside frames diesel shunter as an 09. It was a terrible botch job the day it was released.

Re: A tender for Smokey Joe

Interesting drawing. Looks almost like purpose built or at least decent work into the adaption, I just thought the crew acquired an old wagon to cut down.

Re: Class 25 misbehaving

A bit of superglue and D5206 is back in service. Now shes nice and clean with her gears oiled shes smoothly running laps of the christmas tree as my actual layout in progress has had its power supply 'borrowed.' Maybe I have unfairly commented on her running as last time I had a layout it was hornby...

I just had a flick back and forth between your last picture and the first one in this thread. Quite a transformation to the idyllic GWR branch line.

Re: Class 25 misbehaving

:P My solution to poor pickup on early Hornby or Lima class 25/26/27s is to permanently wire them in multiple using thin wire, this effectively doubles the pickups on both locomotives and improves performance. Saying that, I have eight Sulzers, (with another on its way via Santa's sack) four of the ...

Re: Class 25 misbehaving

Thanks for the prompt replies! It might be old but I've had it from new and I do like it so I'd like it back in action (after 20 years stored). I did think careful glue will be the solution but... mildly nervous. I'll acquire some locktite and report back! Fortune favours the bold etc.. Those Hornby...

Class 25 misbehaving

I have Hornby R253 BR Class 25 in green as D5206. Ringfield powered with literally terrible pickups as standard for mid 90s. Cleaning the wheels, normal cotton buds and lighter fluid technique, onto the layout for a test run, completes half a lap and it loses power and sits there with the motor raci...

Re: BARGAINS!

I think I fell for it. I bought £350 worth of very heavily discounted locos, and they are sat in their boxes and I'm thinking why did I buy them....... I am going to have to look at it as a longish term investment because I don't think I'll ever really want to use them. Honestly I feel a bit of an ...

Re: BARGAINS!

One mystery though that escapes my sense of reality is how a Golden Valley/Oxford Rail Janus in BP livery is basically half the price of other releases. Does this reflect the true production cost of these models. I cannot see production numbers in this livery being any greater than other liveries, ...
