Re: Clifton 009 Layout

A question about "Prince": You built the Langley Models Whitemetal one - same as me - right (as opposed to building Mercian Models "Welsh Pony")? For the tender, did you use the wheels/achsels supplied (plastic) or did you buy new (metal) ones? How well does the tender run/roll?...

Re: Clifton 009 Layout

Sorry to go back so far - but somehow I missed some updates - I love this picture below, it's very convincing: the colours/weathering are nicely observed and reproduced - along with details like the odd missing fence post :) I think things like green (mildew?) wood and rusty tin roofs are something...

Re: Clifton 009 Layout

Thanks for the comments. By the way, whereabouts are you from? Your layouts have fictional? Welsh names, but your name seems to indicate you come from a place called Clifton... Not Clifton in Bristol though, right? Hi Tim. I'm in Clifton, West Yorkshire. The names I use for the towns are all local p...

Re: Clifton 009 Layout

Wow! That's an amazing layout! I especially like all your weathering! Really great job! And your own private liveries! Especially on Prince (looks really great!) and on FR Brake Van Nr 10 and the fictional coach by Dundas based on Brake Van 10 both have a really nice liverie (a sort of pastel red a...

Re: Wales - Switzerland 009 Connection!

Nice paint job on the carriages 8)

It looks like you will have a nice loco line up

I like the Worsley Works Funkey, but I think it will be too long for Llanclifton's tight corners? Have you any idea how long it is? I saw that Hattons have the farish 91 for £49.

Re: Wales - Switzerland 009 Connection!

Great to see some more 009 on here. Looking forward to seeing this progress. Which chassis are you using on Prince? I used the Fleischmann on mine and had to make a lot of adjustments before the body sat at the right height and didn't as you say do wheelies! The tender helps to balance the loco as i...

Re: Clifton 009 Board 2 Llanwyke

I think that looks really good Jason. Is 'Peco Kit 1' just a collection of doors and windows - or a building or something from which you've just used the doors and windows? Like a lot of your layout - it looks really well put together, and your imagination has worked to excellent effect :) I just k...

Re: Clifton 009 Layout

great layout there!!!! its advancing really well good luck! Thanks LongleatCentral. I still keep adding a few little bits to this board, but most of my time at the moment is spent on board 2. The latest addition to this board is a diesel fueling point at Llanclifton depot. I can't believe I forgot ...

Re: Clifton 009 Board 2 Llanwyke

Neat building there Jason. I particularly like the station. Have you used ready-made window frames and doors or are those scratch built too? And did you base them on originals or are they imaginary? The footbridge built from matchsticks is great. It has a totally 'rural, hand-made from local materi...

Re: Clifton 009 Board 2 Llanwyke

First update for a while...... I have been working on more scratch built buildings. Station building for Llanwyke. http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj29/Clifton009_2007/Board%202/B2StationBuilding1.jpg http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj29/Clifton009_2007/Board%202/B2StationBuilding.jpg I wante...

Re: Garage Layout - updated

Just gone through the whole of this thread from the beginning.

Some great detailing. Your painting skills are impressive. I like the retaining walls and the bridge over the cutting 8)

The goods shed will look great when finished.

Keep the pictures coming :D

Re: Clifton 009 Layout

That's looking brilliant. I especially like the 4th pic with the row of houses and back gardens The extra clutter adds nicely to the realism too, I'll have to remember the piles of rusted rails when I get to that stage with mine ! Thanks Tinman. As all the track I used was Peco 009 flexi so there a...

Re: Clifton 009 Layout

Thanks for the comments. Here are a few pictures of the improved “greenery” etc I have added to board 1…… I have added some underbrush, grass, rusted lengths of rails & sleepers to the shed area to clutter it up a bit: http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj29/Clifton009_2007/Scenery/Depot...

Re: Clifton 009 Board 2 Llanwyke

Thanks for all the nice comments. I think board 2 is going to be better than board 1 :D I will definately be improving board 1 with some of the things that have worked well on board 2. I have found that when it comes to scenery etc there is a certain amount of trial and error. Most things can be rip...

Re: Clifton 009 Board 2 Llanwyke

Is the fence hand made (the fence posts with wire running through) ? Either way - coming along nicely :) Thanks Southernboy. Yes the fence is hand made. They take a while  , but are worth the effort :D This is how I do them: -Matches are cut to 150mm lengths -Painted with Railmatch sleeper gr...
