Re: Clifton 009 - Llanwyke
Nice work on those two :) Thanks. Blanche and Linda certainly have a charm about them :) Were they metal kits / plastic kits? Straightforward to put together? Thanks SouthernBoy. They are white metal kits. The chassis's are RTR, but are hand built. The kits are easy to put together. The only fiddly...

Re: Clifton 009 - Llanwyke
Not much progress on the layout over the last few weeks as most of my spare time has been taken up with the building of 2 new locos. The construction was fairly straight forward, it's the painting that's taken the time  The locos are nearly finished now :D . They just need name plates and work...

Re: Clifton 009 - Llanwyke
It's interesting you say you've got a lot of inspiration from other layouts Jason, but I bet in a room of 100 modellers that the followers of your thread would pick your work out immediately. Maybe it's more down to your observational skills and unique use of materials. Something else, I'm not sure...

Re: Clifton 009 - Llanwyke
Streuth this is an amazing layout! The detail is superb :P The only thing I would suggest is bedding in the buildings footing so you don't see a gap: http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj29/Clifton009_2007/Board%202/SlateMineBuildingsGreys.jpg I guess you could use some powdered/crushed slate to mi...

Re: Clifton 009 - Llanwyke
Nice update Jason. What I like with your work is everything sits together in very natural fashion: like all the colours and textures and scales of things like the slate around the place (correct me if I'm wrong!!??) come together quite holistically. Any hints and tips as to how you go go about achi...

Re: Clifton 009 - Llanwyke
Any update on Board 3 and that fiddle yard? Sorry missed this one. Not done anything else with the fiddle yard. It all works though :D I'm planning to paint some sections of it in preparation for joining board 3 to it. Board's 3 & 4 will be smaller than the current ones as due to space constrai...

Re: Clifton 009 - Llanwyke
Thanks for the comments. Jason, Every update makes me want to try narrow gauge - although yet another gauge will end in my early death. Such superb detail, such as the bollards, makes this look more and more real. Looking forward to seeing the new buildings being planted and the weathering to progre...

Here's a bit more progress on board 2: Bus stop sign & timetable at the railway station terminus: http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj29/Clifton009_2007/Board%202/BusStopSign1.jpg I'm currently making a shelter for the bus stop. Bollards marking out a slight bend in the road close to rocks / sl...

Re: Clifton 009 - Llanwyke
I have made some progress with the scenery in the front right hand corner of board 2. The highland cows now have a home! I just need to make some trees to finish this area off. http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj29/Clifton009_2007/Board%202/B2Scenic1.jpg http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj29/Cli...

Re: Wales - Switzerland 009 Connection!
So, here are the two vital questions, and I need your advice , guys: 1. Shall I give up trying(/waiting) to put coach lighting in my coaches and finally complete them? 2. Shall I forget about putting my smoke generator in "Prince" and get on and complete the loco? Thanks, guys! Hi Tim. It...
