Re: West Lakeside Railway.

You can get custom made name plates from here:

www.narrowplanet.co.uk

They are very good. I have them on some of my locos, with some more on order.

The doors for the small shed are now complete: http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj29/Clifton009_2007/Board%204/B4SmallShedDoors.jpg The remaining bare areas of board around the loco sheds are now covered in a base layer of scatter: http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj29/Clifton009_2007/Board%204/...

Re: Clifton 009 - Llanwyke

Thanks whynot. I think I've got the hang of the Wills plastic sheets now. The more buildings I've made the neater the cutting & filing has got! I'm also happier with the doors & hinges on these sheds versus the first one I made on board 1. I think I may go back to that one and either replace...

Re: Clifton 009 - Llanwyke

I think you must be Matchstick King. You've found plenty of uses for them on your layout, and always very effectively too :) I like the hinged doors on the engine shed and neat work on the conveyor too. There's a recognisable style to your work, the essence of which I've not managed to put my finge...

Re: Clifton 009 - Llanwyke

The main loco shed now has doors. They are made from matches, with wire/ Plastruct for the hinges, which enable them to be opened and closed. The ventilation chimneys on the roof are scratch built again using Plastruct. The small loco shed has part of the hinges added to the frames ready for doors t...

Re: Clifton 009 - Llanwyke

I also like Garratts, but even K1 will probably be too big, also they do tend to dwarf some of the stock a bit! I guess that means no Funkeys either. :( This layout is looking amazing! Very clean, very colourful... Surely if it's North Wales it should be grey, brown, and wet? :P Probably not :( Tha...

Re: Clifton 009 - Llanwyke

but Backwoods kits are complicated... :? I think so! Good luck if you decide to make a Backwoods kit. They look great, but are sadly beyond my skills. I can manage white metal kits ok, but not brass. Anyway, don't tell me you're not going to be making another layout!!! I guess you'll have to move t...

Re: NSE days old oak

Hi Richard,

Just spent a while going through this thread.

I really like this layout, some nice details - love the turntable. Brings back memories of trips to Old Oak & Laira. I always liked 50's, makes me feel old now seeing how long ago some of them were scrapped

Re: Clifton 009 - Llanwyke

More locos? I like the sound of that! :D How about Langley Model's Double Fairlie? I'd love to see a Double Fairlie on Llanclifton and Llanwyke! Hi Tim. I like the Fairlies, but the corners on Llanclifton are tight - they are about 9". I've had to make modifications to a few of the locos - esp...

Re: Clifton 009 - Llanwyke

What do you mean by "Board 5 will be the final one"? I don't like the sound of that... Hi Tim, Unfortunately the space in the spare room is limited! Still loads of details to add to all the boards, so no danger of me running out of things to do! I also enjoy building rolling stock and wit...

Re: Clifton 009 - Llanwyke

Thanks for all the comments. I will try to post more often again. I got out of the habbit! All these Bank Holidays should allow some more progress :D The control panel in the building front left is for the power on the sidings off the turntable. There are 12 switches, 10 in use and 2 spare. The 3 lo...

Re: Clifton 009 - Llanwyke

Thanks for the comments. Board 4 looks great and is similar to what I am planning to build out of interest what did you use to cover the base of the peco turntable I covered the base with grey scatter - will probably weather this a bit though as it looks too clean! I also painted the top of the rail...

Re: Clifton 009 - Llanwyke

A long time since my last update! Progress continues on what will now be board 4 – Hove Edge loco sheds. Board 5 will be the final one, a harbour terminus called Hartshead – no plans to start this yet! http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj29/Clifton009_2007/Board%204/B4Overview3.jpg http://i268.phot...

Re: Clifton 009 - Llanwyke

Hi Tim. Yes the loco kits were easy to make. The RTR chassis' simplified the task! The goods van is PD DM27 WW1 Bogie Goods Van. It took a while to get it running ok. It kept jumping the points! It now has a lot of ballast in it! http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj29/Clifton009_2007/Rolling%20Stoc...

Re: Clifton 009 - Llanwyke

Hi Jason! Man I haven't been online in ages! I loved catching up on your progress of the last 6 months! Especially your new engines! You've been busy! I really like that railcar! From a Parkside Dundas Ffestiniog 10-like coach... Great idea! Looks amazing! I've got a few little questions for you to...
