That's an interesting idea, but I feel it may be a bit too meta for the layout.

It's designed very much like a theatre, offering only a snapshot or slice of a particular area. But I like your thinking.

Although I'm not sure which bit you are referring to about the card stock?

The overhead shot was to show the track plan. The top will eventually be boxed in so you can only view it from the front at track level. I'm much the same as you, viewing the world from the trackside.

That was the original track plan that I had printed out before I made a few changes.
