Re: Coegnant branch of the Blue line

Here are some more photos showing the base board with the buildings in position and progress on the headgears. Coegnant was unique in south wales in that the south pit headgears open truss girders were partly enclosed in concrete. The open truss girders were constructed from plastruct girders for lo...

Re: Coegnant branch of the Blue line

I decided to put some detail inside the buildings which will be lit. The winding houses will have a revolving drum but the steam engine will be static. Two commpressors have been made for the compressor house, these were made of card and the tops of Carex soap dispensers http://i326.photobucket.com/...

Re: Fosse Park Sishades obviously titled layout (photo warning)

HI Sishades Great work , love your layout. I,m going re-do my layout in the garage which was my workshop in order to create room for my band saw pillar drill scroolsaw and belt sander. These were removed to make room for the layout but are to useful not to have to hand. You mentioned you used ratio ...

Re: Coegnant branch of the Blue line

Hi Grotland I,ve done extensive research on the colliery mainly from photographs. The winding engine drum is made from mdf sides and a plasic bottle for the drum it,s self. This first model is set during modernisation in the 1950,s In fact the winding houses have been extended to allow for new elect...

Re: Coegnant branch of the Blue line

The small windmill thing is the partly constructed steam engine driving the winding drum. Only the drum will move and is built to the correct diameter to give the correct position for the openings in the wall for the Overwind and Underwind ropes. The diameter of the drum being a minimum 150 times th...

Re: The Blue Line OO Garden Rail

Now that we have had some nice weather i,ve been able to lay all the track for the first stage of the Blue Line. At the moment i,m relying on the fish plates for electrical continuity but i did solder droppers to every section of track and soldered the fish plates on the sections with points. The ne...

Re: The Blue Line OO Garden Rail

Well theres good news and bad news with the Blue Line. The good news is that with the good weather i have been able to lay more track, i,ve laid almost half.
