Re: Coegnant branch of the Blue line

After a large real world building project i can now return to the colliery model. Coegnant Colliery. Here is a photo showing the layout as it was left. I intend to add an elevated railway with large radius curves to run my american locos.

Re: The Blue Line OO Garden Rail

Basically , it was the weather, constant rain , the wood stood up really well and the track also, but the last two summers brought it home to me that a garden railway in this part of the UK (South Wales) is not practicable.

Re: Coegnant branch of the Blue line

Now that the Blue Line is no more i was thinking of changing the name of the Coegnant branch, but i might keep it the same in memory of a time when we used to have summers and a garden railway was viable. Back to the Coegnant colliery model, I,ve been lucky in my research into the colliery which clo...

Re: Coegnant branch of the Blue line

That is just amazing! I love the way it dominates and dwarfs the trains. Wouldn't be possible in styrene without warpage. I'm guessing there's no rivets on it. You would have to be a real eccentic to put rivets on it but the counters of our hammered rounded friends get a bad press and I don't think...

Re: The Blue Line OO Garden Rail

The Blue Line garden railway is no more. Sadly the weather these last few summers has finally defeated me. I am however continuing work on my colliery layout.

I,ve tried using Autocad to print windows onto clear acatete but i cant get the frames to show up clearly. Any advice would be appreci...

Re: Coegnant branch of the Blue line

Work has restarted on the bascule bridge. The two counter weights being made of wood and not concrete as the real ones were are not heavy enough. As a result a brass bar of 13 ounces was fixed to the counter weights to balance to bridge and make the load on the electric motor as light as possible. h...

Re: Coegnant branch of the Blue line

Hi Geoff T Yes you are right, flashing lights especially when the bridge is raised being in scale 269 feet high. The only way i can think of to motorise the bridge is to use air cylinders. The main purpose of the bridge is to allow access in and out of the garage, so there will be times when the bri...
