Re: Hornby P2 #2001 "C0ck of the North"
Magnificent! I think my Dad is considering getting a TTS release sometime. Whilst not cheap, he wants just one sound-enabled steam loco & loves this. Part of the reason is how easy he found putting a Mikado arranged loco as opposed to a Pacific on a piece of track. Same thing applies to a 9F, as...

Re: Hornby A3 tender drive to loco drive
I did slightly "modify" my A1 (its a loco-drive BTW, GWRfan). Added a bit more to the dome to shape it like a bangocase, but still needs the two square blocks one either side of the chimney/smokebox. Once they're on, it should resemble an A3 to my basic tastes. I ended up with an A1 by cha...

Re: Hornby A3 tender drive to loco drive
Going back to the beginning here...... I have a standard A1 Flying Scotsman 4472 from the RR range made a few years ago. Its the R2675A model & Im wondering how I could fit another "better detailed" body & tender over the chassis (?) Ideally looking for the "banjo case" d...

Re: Hornby A4 "Kingfisher"
I think I found it courtesy of my Dave Clark Locomotives in Detail book.
Should be between the front two driving wheels.
Pretty sure none of mine have them (maybe 2509 Silverlink), cos they're all Railroad or Bachmann.
Thanks for the info, GWRfan

Re: Hornby A4 "Kingfisher"
Got rid of mine because of both loco & carriages. The loco seemed a luxury I didn't really need & coaches were (despite being very nice) of a very specific era. I found the two from the later Olympics set (with the black N2), but preferred the idea of LNER teaks, not BR number versions. Got ...

Re: best DCC steam loco
I'd be typically biased in recommending the Golden Shuttle from Kernow but it is a great runner. If you can, grab an L1 (lots of pickup axles!!).Their Railroad 9F is excellent too. Bachmann? Not a bad A4, though not as good-a-looker as Hornby. An A2? No hesitations. Ditto their more recent pannier o...

Re: Progress or vandelism?
Looking in Norwich the other day, I noticed a big gap where a former bingo hall (a cinema before that) had been levelled. In fairness, it was an ugly building (an ABC cinema I think).
Just needs Aviva to flatten a couple of their hideous things around the city now.

Re: Heljan DP2
Shame that Heljan dont do an N version at a similar price....
Have a feeling I'll experience similar troubles with my DP2 as I haven't tried it on radius 2 or 3 curves yet. Not averse to trimming a bit of detail off though.

Re: Heljan DP2
As Bigmet has said, it will pull shedloads & should prove to be an asset.
Mine has been tested on Radius two & three curves and not given me any problems.
Was lucky enough to find the green D5905, the one that survived until 1975/76

Re: Hornby TTS
Thanks Chris. I have spotted one about £10 cheaper with the sound removed. Its not much more than Lima green 40106 models go for. It'll have better couplings. Maybe I could get a regular TTS from the Mersey-based supplier & just leave myself the option of going DCC in the future, if its only £10...

Re: Hornby TTS
Thats cool & least it saves me about £25 to get what Im after, while also saving me a lot of hassle in discovering the fact later. If it worked, then wahey, if not then I'd cope, cos I just wanted an updated version of D306. Id liked the idea of "sound" in a 40, but maybe get something...

Re: Hornby TTS
Just got my paws on a Class 40 and according to the instructions, it won't produce sound on DC. I think it's more than acceptable at £69 for a sound fitted loco. C. :) Thats a pity. I might just as well source myself a RR 40 & put the green body on that. If not, there are some with sound remove...

Re: Hornby TTS
With regards to the TTS locos/models, I am curious enough to ask this..... I have a sound-fitted Bach St Paddy & when operating on analogue, it produces a basic engine sound. If I was to buy the Empress of Canada D212 model & run this, would I get the same result? Im just wondering that if I...
