Re: NS wins short-term Greater Anglia franchise

M8 - you completely missed the point, what I said in other words was "tell us what you're going to call it and what your colour scheme will be, before we decide weather or not to let you bid forthe franchise" I covered the point and outlined the current policy It is not practical to suppl...

NS wins short-term Greater Anglia franchise

Nederlandse Spoorwegen subsidiary Abellio has won the 29 month Greater Anglia franchise. Well - if nothing else - we will start to see the demise of the truly dire National Express corporate branding and livery. http://www.abellio.com/pers/?key=1000000112&template=uk-pressreleases1&persitem=...

Re: Embarrassing...

Shrewsbury is managed by ATW/TAC and I could not find any prohibition on its website. Both NR and ATOC have rules, but there seems to be no specific mention of filming, as distinct from photography. There are rules regarding the use of tripods, procedures for commercial photography and an outright p...

Re: Record payment by Virgin Trains

Railway engineers and other railway manufacturing workers have been chucked on the the dole over the past several decades, but it's good to know that the business managers, contract managers, compliance managers, franchise managers, brand managers, consultants, lawyers and accountants have a rosy pr...

Re: Class 306 on the move.

I remember travelling on this unit when it was operating shuttles between Rugby and Northampton as part of a West Midlands rail event - sometime in the late 80s or early 90s. A shame it is unlikely to be on the mainline again.

Re: IEP and GW Bristol/Cardiff electrification get go ahead

If the Agility Trains IEP is a DEMU with the option of electric traction current from the overhead, this would seem very wasteful in terms of build costs and environmental costs: a diesel engine mounted beneath each carriage adding to overall train weight and power-consumption.

Re: tram for n gauge

Thinking about your first post, Modemo produces some high-floor Japanese trams - like Manchester Metrolink, but single cars (or car + trailer) rather than articulated. Wellington Models (http://www.wellingtonmodels.com/) sells them. it also stocks some two-car EMUs that resemble modern high-floor li...

All the best for the operation Grahame.

I bought N'spirations 3 from you (via Ebay) a couple of weeks ago and found it great reading as always. Looking forward to the next edition.

Re: Coping with flooding...

What particularly brought a smile to my face was the way several passers-by who were wading up to their knees in water, and who had just been drenched by the passing train, still felt they should put their umbrellas up. :D
