Re: Castell Mawr - A joint GWR/LMS route

Sounds like it was a Grand Day out! Glad to hear it all came together, but a shame no pictures (so far) I think there was a video made? Kudos for bring it all together and exhibiting Castell Mawr though - hard work, but glad people enjoyed it.

Re: East Cheltwell

Cheers John-the Wills Craftsman Kits do seem intially daunting, but actually go together quite well. Still trying to get to grips with the new photobucket;at least the pictures are posting! So an update of sorts. I have started work on the Wills Goods Shed. This is what you start with. http://i265.p...

Re: Castell Mawr - A joint GWR/LMS route

Nice fence how do you drill those holes consistently in the same place? I'd like to know too! Did you mark a jig? Little OT, but recently saw a video, I believe of Castell Mawr? Looked pretty good in the altogether. Hope all the preparations are coming along well for next weekend. Of course, we'll ...

Re: "Pen Y Bryn"

Great photography - I think as I have written before that I like the colours and textures. The last one is interesting, I like it - early morning or late afternoon sun reflections?

Re: East Cheltwell

Thanks Keith and mash! I started East Cheltwell almost 3 years to the day and still haven't finished! Thanks for the comments. Just a small update - I have been working on the goods yard store and have practically finished it. The Wills Scenic Series kits are pretty straightforward to construct. The...

Re: Castell Mawr - A joint GWR/LMS route

What I an trying is grassed over traces of a medieval field system ingenious! I think we often neglect or over see what the countryside really does look like from a modellers perspective. Perhaps for any post-war layouts, old bomb craters or the like could be incorporated. And in urban areas, bombe...

Re: East Cheltwell

Another smaller update - a couple of things - firstly, after really cleaning the track and working on CV values, locomotives have really been running well. I think this contributes to the overall enjoyment rather than being frustrated with poorly running stock. It's nice for engine to actually move ...

Re: East Cheltwell

Hi again - thanks Geoff and Matt - :) I had a spare day this week and decided to work on some engines, chips and CVs. As I mentioned in a previous post I had been working on a Hornby BR Fowler 2-6-4T Class 4P Loco '42335' (R2223). I had snipped off the capacitor and then decided to cut out the PCB a...

Re: Rayne St, Fictional N-Gauge Layout - Update 22/01/13

Wonderful modelling - I am really impressed with the garden and green house especially how it fits so well into the layout. I also like the flow of the roads and houses - the bungalow looks very well kept with all the flowers and it's in N guage to boot! Talk about raising the bar! - I think you've ...

Re: East Cheltwell

Hi all - just a quick update - have to say I am enjoying my layout and trains right now - I went through a bit of a lull over last year. As noted, I decided to chip a loco and next in line was my Castle Class - Cadbury Castle. http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/ii211/Eastern_photos/East%20Cheltwell/...

Re: Digitrax and TCS Compatability issue?

On further thought, actually two! Would these help: a) Cutting the capacitor out - 2) Adjusting CV 182 - apparently from TCS - " To enable the Keep-Alive feature place a value of 2 in CV 182. This essentially disables DC mode and the decoder will remain in DCC operation during brief power inter...

Re: Digitrax and TCS Compatability issue?

Thanks for the replies - Ihave a Bachmann Class 57XX Pannier with a TCS in it and no problems - so perhaps it could be a duff chip?
I'll investigate further.

Digitrax and TCS Compatability issue?

Hi all - I have been trying to get my Hornby BR Fowler 2-6-4T Class 4P Loco '42335' (R2223) to run smoothly and consistently. I chipped the locomotive with a TCS DP2X-UK - off with the blanking plate and in with the chip. http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/ii211/Eastern_photos/IMG_7068.jpg http://i2...

Re: East Cheltwell

Seems I have got back into some modelling! :D Maybe next time it would be interesting to get a few views from the operator's perspective? I need to do a little tidying up first! Too many boxes of 'stuff' but thanks for the comments! And cheers JohnN - static grass does seem to get some good effects,...
