Re: new guy help ideas please

You could also visit a modelrailway exhibition to see the different scales in action and to get some inspiration as you decide where to start.

Re: East Cheltwell

Thanks Gents! - This week, I have worked a little on the engine shed area and also the signal box. The engine shed looks rather disused! Perhaps a little too much; however, I wanted to give the impression of a shed that was at the end of its useful life. http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/ii211/East...

Re: Greetings From "Across the Pond!" :D

Hi Erik - welcome to the NRM - to the west of you in Oregon! Defintely would like to see the Flyng Scotsman recreation; the funeral train also sound interesting, and not macabre at all. Churchill's funeral was in 1965 and so you should have some interesting scope as well. Anyhow - Welcome!

Re: Stoketon N gauge the whole story and photos

Great introduction and synopsis of how you created your layout. I like the methodology and look forward to the extension (with pics  )

Re: "Pen Y Bryn"

I think as I said before that I really like the colours and textures of Pen Y Bryn. The river looks good even though you mentioned it was 20 years old! Did you pour it and let it settle, then add some ripples etc Great photography too, what kind of lens are you using?

Re: Waton - N gauge challenge

I am looking the track work with my iPad and can really zoom in on the intricate work you've done- not for the faint-hearted at all (including me!) nice to see an update from Waton. Did the colour of the water under the bridge ever change; I know when you applied the PVC(?) it streaked somewhat. Jus...

Re: East Cheltwell

This week's update - I have been thinking of how to populate the station area - often, model railways seems to have so much detail, yet neglect to even have a single passenger and driver-less engines (which am guilty of!) I invited a few 00 gauge peeps to stage a few scenes. I also worked on some mo...

Re: East Cheltwell

Thanks Lesjez - much of what I've done has also been aquired from some of the excellent layouts of the NRM plus other sites and layouts. My first layout after coming back into model railways was Cheltwell Revisited - my old layout ! I decided I wanted to go further and hence the current layout - who...

Re: first stage of my layout complete

Hi - welcome to the NRM Forums - Had a browse of your website - pretty impressive and looks very well engineered and detailed! I don't believe I have seen a dam modelled before! The colours of the rock look great - are they all made from moulds and then painted? I am thinking they are not plaster be...

Re: East Cheltwell

Well another week - and an update of sorts. Firstly the postie dropped off some parcels from ebay - due to my locale, I often bid with ebay and sometimes get lucky, sometimes not  This time I bid on a Bachmann 32-179 CRAB 2-6-0 LOCOMOTIVE #42942 and won it for £21.39 - methinks the seller post...

Re: "Pen Y Bryn"

Very effective weathering - have to agree that thecorrugated shed looks great as well. I like the scrapyard - looks 'scrappy' yet realistically organized with the appropriate things you would expect to see in such a yard.

Re: MARSHFIELD WITH ELY BRIDGE: **final update**

Ditto to the previous comments too - Marshfield in itself was an inspiration as is Marshfield with Ely Bridge - perhaps the Mods could create a lockable thread where finished (if that is ever possible!) layouts are preserved for posterity and reference?

Re: East Cheltwell

Thanks Lofty - shall perservere! :D Actually, I did think some about the reality of having the large goods shed which seemed to dominate the station forecourt. Most probably, there would have been more infrastruture for storage and accessibility which makes a smaller good shed more logical. a decisi...

Re: East Cheltwell

Hi Geoff - thanks for the comments - I did think about not moving the siding , but thought by doing so would free up some room - I know what you mean about leaving it alone - but, perhaps just a small change? - here is the early stages or the relaid track. I hacked out some of the sleepers to give a...

Re: Tixeter Junction

Welcome and nice to see a new layout on NRM! Nice selection of locos and rolling stock as well. I understand about the 1st radius curves- on my old layout I had Hornby R605 curves which mean't only a limited number of locomotives could be run.
Look forward to more updates.
