Re: BACHMANN CLASS 66 FRONT LIGHTS

Hi Thats correct, 1 headlight only but I never could work out the lighting for a 66. I looked at many photos and it was not until I watched a video on youtube did it become a little clearer. You need to apply "rule 17" to the head light only for day and night running. When the loco is stat...

Re: Multiple locomotives with one DCC controller

Hi No your not doing anything wrong and if I understand your post correctly you want when you go back to another sound loco you want it to remember what it was doing. If thats correct change CV 124 (this applies to loksounds only) to 6. That will fix the problem. What this does is it tells the lok t...

Re: Idiot Proof DCC?

Hi Some very good advice there all I can suggest at this stage is ask plenty of questions on here and do some research, eg buy a couple of DCC books. Have a look here for opinions on DCC Controllers as it may help you narrow your decision a little. http://www.dccconcepts.com/index_files/DCCbrandecis...

Re: dcc courses essex??

Hi The principals are the same for n gauge OO, O etc. You just got a much smaller space to work in. I have not heard of that book but any research done on the subject is worth it. As to the course I would love to attend but as I live in Australia its a little far to go. If you can make it to the cou...

Re: retro fit digital sound.

Hi I must say that his class 47 is excellent and he makes a very good point about inertia. I think the horn is brilliant, love it. Having never heard any of these locos in real life its hard for me to say but I do really like it and his other projects are fantastic too. I think its time for me to bu...

Re: retro fit digital sound.

Hi Graham Note: It was pieman who suggested that 2 identical speakers gave better sound quality, not me. He also suggested a bass reflex and more importantly sealing the speaker. With all due respect graham, fitting a speaker without the sound chamber / baffle box will produce far poorer sounds. I t...

Re: retro fit digital sound.

Hi In principal I agree with what you have said Graham and 99% of the time I will use 2 different speakers to work over a broader frequency range. You will get no argument from me on speaker theory but sometimes when we apply this to a practical application you can end up with different results. Tak...

Re: retro fit digital sound.

Hi I 100% agree with piemanlarger on the following: With all due respect graham, fitting a speaker without the sound chamber / baffle box will produce far poorer sounds. I have done a few sound installs and I would never consider putting in a speaker without a fully sealed housing. That's up to you....

Re: Using a 1F 5.5v Super capacitor on a Zimo decoder

Hi I have used many different methods in the past with caps but in the end I came back to 2200mF or 4700mF in a parallel circuit. I use the super caps for lighting in coaches and I would not recommend a series circuit with 5.5v 4 caps in parallel which feed 2 x 8 function only Zimo decoders and a 6 ...

Re: The ultimate British N Gauge model?

Hi None.... if you look on youtube you will find this sound loco actually gained another approximate 10% extra weight on the original. Farish/Dapol can do it but their is no market. I understand at the n gauge show their was only maybe 5% of the layouts that were DCC. Still a great achievement as yo...

Re: The ultimate British N Gauge model?

Hi She is a real beauty, and a wonderful job on the weathering. I had a look on Mercig web site and he has more listed. Some real outstanding work done on n gauge and some actually look real. As to the sound did anyone hear it at the show and what did you think? The video is excellent. I had a look ...
