Re: What should Hornby make next?
They made some lovely stuff for it's time thats for sure, minic motorways is sadly missed, a similar system or the old system with all new scale vehicles would make the big H a mint today especially if you could have the Super4 rail/road sections in the range and the R.476 converter rail so you coul...

Re: New Model Shop in Peterborough
It is a mystery, they had a recruitment add in the Peterborough ET but it doesn't say where the new store is going to be.

Re: What should Hornby make next?
The junction signals were sadly not motorised but it wasn't too hard to do with the MK1 motor and conversion was relatively easy, just requiring counter weights at the post bases, all easily done, you could buy a kit for all this during the 1970's from another manufacturer, carn't rememebr who made ...

Re: EFFORTLESS CLEANING TRACK!
The problem with track rubbers are they are notorious muck spreaders, spreading dust and dirt everywhere and scratching the railhead as well.

Re: What should Hornby make next?
I totally agree D306Whistler, there's no reason for not making a good range, the old close to scale Tri-ang ones could make a comeback in the Railroad range. Leaving the horrible and vastly overscale Hornby jobbies they produce today in the bin of history. You can get micro LED's that fit INSIDE the...

Re: What should Hornby make next?
Yes indeed a new range of signals is desperately needed. The Hornby signals are terrible no scale things. The Hornby horrors replaced the lovely closer to scale Tri-ang gantry and signals below. Not my pics I hasten to add. http://www.tri-ang.co.uk/OONew/Signal%20Gantry.htm http://www.tri-ang.co.uk/...

Re: What should Hornby make next?
Too true Tuxychuff, the Hornby colour light is long overdue for retirement as are the Hornby semaphores. Both were made to repplace closer to scale Tri-ang ones. Why one asks when the older Tri-ang ones they replaced were closer to scale?

Nice model Phipps. Love the old Tri-ang moulding R.145 Modern BR 50's style signal box, just right for the time period.

Re: What should Hornby make next?
Makes you weep to think of the fact Melton Constable was once a proud railway town with four mainlines going into it, a big locomotive works and was once a bustling place employing thousands.

Re: I think that a lot of stuff is overpriced...
It's a tricky one John. The thing about collectors is without them you wouldn't have those mint boxed models on EBay, they would have been thrashed to death, worn out, lost transfers and boxes etc, would have worn linning and transfers, broken steps etc. Collectors preserve the models in a way for t...

Re: dapol 00 gauge
You could well be right Bigmet. Plus OO scale is a bigger market than N with that magic Hornby name luring the average mum and pop and grandparents when it comes to buying little Johnny his train set. Ask most mum and pops and grandparents what model train manufacturers they know and most will have ...

Re: My railway pics various
Nice class 47 there, the drab railfreight livery never really suited them making them look down at heal and work weary, they were best in two tone BR green with totem or BR Banger Blue when first outshopped and clean with large BR logo and with yellow axle box covers. Have to say the Deltic/class 55...
