Re: North Wales inspired layout 1970s

I strongly recommend that you do not build your layout on a duvet. It will get all soggy and wrinkly, trains will derail and your sleep pattern will be severly disrupted.

Re: Whitemans Wharf

Really do need to make more frequent updates as it is over a year since the last batch. Anyhow, I lost my mojo for modelling and it has only returned just recently. I dont have long so here a bunch of photos to show it in its current state. The original idea was to model the wharf as of Haven Bridge...

Re: Very slow Class 08

Just viewed your video and can confirm that rather than being slow it is running way too fast. These are very slow moving machines in real life and rarely went faster than jogging speed. :)

Re: Bachmann DMU, Cravens / class 105

Last year I too soldered the contacts directly to the leafy thing. I also took the liberty of permanently attaching the motor car and the immediate coach with micro plugs thus doubling the number of pickups to the motor. Works a treat although I am looking at conducting couplings to replace the plugs.

Re: How Good is It

My advice would be to go and buy the very best system that you can afford, after all it is the heartbeat of a layout. I would avoid the trainset type controllers and go for somethng more "grown up". There are some good starter sets like the NCE powercab (so many exhibitors use these), the ...

Re: Digitrax DCS51 and DecoderPro

I own a digitrax super chief and can confirm hat cv values can be altered using the controler. This can be done on the main line or a programming track. You need to select the correct programming mode though, there are three in total.

Re: Hornby in the news today

DC for normal people, DCC for those who think they are clever, and DCC sound for those with hearing issues

I think we should go one step backwards and reintroduce 3 rail systems and tinplate rolling stock the size of shoeboxes.
