Re: Bachmann DMU, Cravens / class 105

Last year I too soldered the contacts directly to the leafy thing. I also took the liberty of permanently attaching the motor car and the immediate coach with micro plugs thus doubling the number of pickups to the motor. Works a treat although I am looking at conducting couplings to replace the plugs.

Re: How Good is It

My advice would be to go and buy the very best system that you can afford, after all it is the heartbeat of a layout. I would avoid the trainset type controllers and go for somethng more "grown up". There are some good starter sets like the NCE powercab (so many exhibitors use these), the ...

Truely amazing stuff...The last time I saw anything this wonderful was Wes Morgan lifting the Premier League Tropy in 2016.

Re: Digitrax DCS51 and DecoderPro

I own a digitrax super chief and can confirm hat cv values can be altered using the controler. This can be done on the main line or a programming track. You need to select the correct programming mode though, there are three in total.

Re: Hornby in the news today

DC for normal people, DCC for those who think they are clever, and DCC sound for those with hearing issues

I think we should go one step backwards and reintroduce 3 rail systems and tinplate rolling stock the size of shoeboxes.

Re: Blue Pullman retooled

Likewise the Bachmann crane. Hattons estimate was around the £75 mark so I preordered one. Had an email today confirming the rrp is £240....yikes. One cancelled order coming up.

Re: Has anyone used these

Just a thought...the Dapol track cleaner comes equipped with a vacuum cleaner and it can be converted to DCC. I have one of these and use it in front of a loco to pickup up debris, dust and dead spiders. Sad to say it is useless at cleaning track but makes a great hoover. I resprayed it black and ap...

Why not just vacuum your layout once in a while?

Re: Suitcase connectors

I use these connectors on my layout, about 100 in total and have found them to be very reliable over the years. With regards to the cobalts, I have 40 of these and took the precaution of tinning all of the wire ends. The picture below is my new layout with the same connectors etc https://s26.postimg...

Re: Track cleaning cars

I also had the Dapol cleaning car which as a track cleaner is a waste of space. However it came with a piece of equipment that when fitted turns it into a mini hoover, which it does very well. I resprayed it black, weathered it and applied some br logos... https://s26.postimg.org/m6kk2jc4p/P1030784....

CMX cleaning wagon is superb but it is like hens teeth. The best method is a chamois leather and IPA by hand.

Track cleaning

Has anyone used Brasso polish to clean rails, and if so what long term effects did you have?
