Re: PeterH's Watford Junction photo & video thread.

Low battery had me a bit worried, but I managed to get decent footage of 45231 'The Sherwood Forester' passing through Watford today from Carnforth on her way to Southall. She was running 10 minutes early at 18:06.

Re: New Dapol section on the forum

Hello all, the Dapol section should be up and running now. If someone would like to test it that would be most helpful for us! Once we know that the forum is working properly we shall start moving previous threads into the new section.

Kind regards,

PeterH.

Re: PeterH's Watford Junction photo & video thread.

My third video of the year. 60009 'Union of South Africa' on RYTCs 'The Chesireman' Euston - Chester return. Only the outward trip here since she was 25 minutes early on the way back. I did manage to see her in the evening, as she was dropping off passengers my friend and I heard her standing in the...

Re: National Railway Museum under pressure to introduce char

They probably make more money through donations than they would through entrance fees. People do give a fair bit of money as goodwill, with an entrance fee they would probably not be as generous, and a large fee would turn people away.

Re: Update on 4472 'Flying Scotsman'

If you watch the Classic Steam Train Collection - Flying Scotsman (an excellent DVD set), they follow 4472 on the footplate when she had the modifactions on her. They were quite impressed with her performance at the time. Obviously the extra strain put upon her caused the damage. http://www.youtube....

Re: Update on 4472 'Flying Scotsman'

If you read the report made it has quite a few recommendations as to how it ought to be run once complete. They advise against moving it by road and running on preserved lines due to the stop-start nature of them. It also suggests mileage limits (on both mainline and preserved lines) and proper main...

I found something rather interesting on my Steam on the Met. day on Monday. I was shown the last remaining part of the Dickinson's Paper Mill, a length of rail by the side of the canal. http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u47/PeterHHodge/DSCF4831.jpg http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u47/PeterHHodge...

Re: Restoring a live steam Bowman 234 locomotive.

Did a bit more work tonight including further paint stripping of components. I have also started a bit of work on the burner, I removed all of the old wicks, the far two were blocked so they will have to be redone (one already taken off). There is also a hole in the tank which will need patching up....
