Re: Clackwick Circa 1955

Got an old schoolfriend visiting next weekend for a few days. He's also a layout enthusiast, so I'm tidying up and making sure that everything is in running order. I can't be the only one who's layout seems to be in a constant stage of development, and "CLOSED FOR MAINTENANCE" for 90% of t...

Re: Clackwick Circa 1955

Thank you joshv8. Oddly enough, the shooting party was probably the one scene requiring the least effort. But I do find that it pays to wait once an idea forms, and then let the idea develop in your mind over a period of time. Very often it ends up being something quite different to the original con...

Re: Clackwick Circa 1955

Old Man Belcher has erected a scarecrow on his vegetable patch, in the hope of saving some of his greens from the crows: Belcher's 3 1024 x 768.jpg I decided to replace the foilage in the bunker scene to a darker green. I don't know, but it may just give our lad a bit more cover before OMB spots him...

Re: Clackwick Circa 1955

Following a recent delivery from Langley Models, I think I can say that the Eastern National Depot is now about finished: Eastern National 3 1024 x 768.JPG I've also added one of those open top busses operated by Eastern National, mostly along the Clacton and Jaywick seafront route. I need to modify...

Re: Clackwick Circa 1955

Thanks luckymucklebackit. You are right, it is a Bristol Lodekka. The local bus and coach services around Clacton (and much of Essex) were served by Eastern National and Grey-Green coach service in the mid '50s. I have good reason to remember such detail since my summer weekends were invariably spen...

Re: Tinwald is back!

Lots of interesting techniques reflected in your posts Phat Controller, but when I saw your diesel refuel station I realised that my three diesels will need to show phenominal efficiency if they are to continue operations without being refuelled. The term wood for the trees springs to mind. Hey ho, ...

Re: Clackwick Circa 1955

Interesting that you lived at Southend manna, I had the same pleasure from 1991 to '96 whilst working for HeavyLift at the airport. Rather a culture shock after spending the previous five years in rural southern Germany. Development of Clackwick is undergoing something of a lull at the moment due to...

Re: Acton North (N)

Looking good actonnorth - and remarkably tidy "underneath. I have just completed fitting black curtains to the front of all open support areas below Clackwick - necessary to hide the mass of tools, materials, track parts and fittings, electronics, modroc, scatter, foilage, empty loco and carria...

Yes, josh8, they can really make a scene come to life. I also use Dart Castings and Scalelink, both of which are excellent.

Church Road Bus/Coach depot now renamed to reflect 1950s ownership, building weathered and area "distressed". Awaiting tool boxes, engine parts, oil drums and "depot cat" - on order from Langley.

The start of the next diaorama; The Eastern National Bus/Coach Depot on Church Road, Clacton c1955. Much work yet to be done, but the idea begins to take shape.
