Re: Bachmann 0-6-0 tanks

Ah. I think my missus might like the look of that BR lined 87xx. I wonder if that's her Xmas present sorted ...

Re: Bachmann 0-6-0 tanks

Hmmm ... so if I want a Bachmann 0-6-0 tank and I don't like the idea of split chassis, it looks like the choice is the two I've got (57xx and 1F) or the new 64xx. Or maybe the Jinty? I'm still not clear about that one. If I can find a s/h unweathered BR black one, when's that likely to have been ma...

Bachmann 0-6-0 tanks

I have a 57xx and a 1F, both of which I'm very happy with, and I see they now do a 64xx. Does anybody know if that's the same motor and gearing as the 57xx? Also, they list the Jinty as being available only in LMS black or weathered BR late crest, but I'm fairly sure I've seen early crest unweathere...

Re: Bachmann Mk1 Suburban Coaches

Thanks for the info gents. Crikey, I had a couple of those Triang clerestories when I was a kid!

Kit-building and converting is off for a variety of reasons, but I must admit I hadn't looked at Hornby so off now to do just that ... :D

Re: Bachmann Mk1 Suburban Coaches

Crikey! I didn't realise they were that old. The going rate for them seems to be in the region of £20.

Hmmm ... so I wonder if the ones currently listed on the Bachmann site as new Dec/Jan are new(er) tooling ...

Bachmann Mk1 Suburban Coaches

I'm after a couple of carriages which could be appropriate for a late 40's - 50's back-of-beyond branch line train and are better than my Dapol 57' Staniers. I see that according to the Bachmann site, they reckon they are about to do 34-604C which is a new "Open BR Lined Maroon", and 34-63...

Re: Hornby J94

Thanks Bigmet. Is the Hornby one out of the Dapol tooling then? The one I was looking at / listening to on YouTube certainly sounded like gear whine to me. (I guess I never will understand why anybody demonstrates a J94 by racing round a track like it's a TGV, but that's by the by ...) I'd be up for...

Re: Bachmann 1F questions

It may need a little adjustment to optimise running, well worthwhile because the basic mechanism design is sound. Interesting. Thanks for that. I just checked out a video of one running and whilst it does indeed seem nicely low geared, the thing sounded like it was clockwork! Dunno if that's down t...

Re: Bachmann 1F questions

I'm happy to report that I sent the wobbly-wheel loco back on Wednesday, and on Friday morning received a replacement which, after running in, is a really lovely runner. I'm a very happy bunny.

Top marks to Track Shack for customer service (especially as the return cost me nowt)!

Re: Bachmann "Pickfords" container & Conflat

Availability is as reliably predictable as US election results... I think Bachmann UK have to wait for 'slots' in the parent business' Kader's factories, and essentially get what they are given. Their one time ability to maintain a near continuous flow of product, with most of it arriving in some r...
