Re: Derby Friargate LNER/ BR garage layout

Thanks manna and E2E, The workshop set is from Wills kits with some additional details such as boxes and the laser cut stairs which were bashed together from Ancorton models. I think the tea light is very effective and having it's own switch is great too. Only down side is the housing which is quite...

Re: Derby Friargate LNER/ BR garage layout

Well I've been busy again  , I mentioned in my last update that I wanted to have a forge scene. I was contemplating one where iron was being cast however I have settled on a more low key example of a blacksmiths fitting shoes on to horses. With horses still being used for transporting goods in...

Re: Lumsdonia

I like your road bridge, it looks well built as well. I need to get mine sorted but because I am lazy I have cut and shut 4 skaledale bridges together however the time I saved doing that I have lost tidying it all up.

Look forward to seeing your station with the sign installed.

Re: Derby Friargate LNER/ BR garage layout

Thank you very much for your kind comments. Paul thank you, I am hoping that it should be quite visible as it is going to be placed right on the edge of the base board so one can get their eye right in. Also with the addition of lighting it should be well visible through the windows. Bufferstop, hah...

Re: Derby Friargate LNER/ BR garage layout

Thank you Dad1 for your kind comments, I have been busy trying to get this workshop finished, however it seems to have grown legs and I have gone all out. I have completed the interior detail with a wooden floor and a wood stair case to access the upper floor. The machinery being two lathes and two ...

Fantastic manna, what decals do you use? I have got some model master ones which are not as good as the HMRC pressfix ones, which I havnt been able to get hold of.

Re: Lumsdonia

I look forward to seeing your progress and your station installed. I have been alright at building things but I often think that it is the scenic areas that can let me down and I think static grass is the way forward. I need to practice quite a bit.

It looks really good in position and complete. A fine addition to a great layout. What's next?

Re: Galgorm Hall 00 Gauge Loft Layout

I feel your pain with the points, I am using the gaugemaster seep point motors and already before I have even finished one section and moving on to another I am getting problems with either the throw or the polarity not switching correctly and I would agree it is a bloody pain! I have had to take a ...

Re: Shawhurst - SR/WR OO gauge layout

How long will it take to complete and what was you quoted for a loco build if you don't mind me asking? I have got a GNR D2 kit which is out of my league which I would be interested in getting built. I know it's not cheep, but I hope it's everything you want wen you get it back

Re: Edgware GN, Now building a J6 0-6-0

Every thing about that is a top notch build I bet that it runs great as well. I have come to find with my self that I go through a set of stages when I model something. The initial build, the painting which more than often goes wrong, a period of cursing, then trying to put it right, which ends up i...

Re: Derby Friargate LNER/ BR garage layout

Thank you very much for your comments Jim, Manna, Pete and Si. Manna, that is a good idea and I will employ it in the larger signal box and it will make a nice touch thanks. Another productive day today, although it is true that there are never enough hours in the day as I had so much on my 'to get ...
